I've been loading the 64 grain bonded solid base for a friend of mine to shoot in his 22-250 for a few years now. He has been telling me that they kill like lightning but I had not had the opportunity to witness it personally. Monday Eve I stopped by, Whelen in hand, to go see for myself. He has a feeder setup across the street from his house in a small bay-head behind an orange grove. He said the hogs were coming every evening like clockwork. Around 7:15 when it started to cool off a bit, we jumped into the mobile electric ground blind (GolfCart) and drove into the woods. We strategically parked about 100 yards away looking down a long lane to the feeder. We watched a raccoon steal corn for about 15 minutes, then he got nervous and scurried away. First the smaller ones ran in, then the larger ones, near 20 in total. We picked out the two we wanted and did the count down, 3,2,1.. it sounded like a single shot and we piled two up in the lane.. neither took a step.
He shot a boar that weighed between 80-100#. It was slightly quartered towards him. Bullet entered the side of the neck but exited in the center of the front shoulder. I was surprised at the exit wound.. you could easily stick a quarter down the hole. unfortunately, no bullet recovery..

Here are the results of the hog I shot with the 35 Whelen & 225 sierra GameKing

I've heard a lot of good reports concerning the BSB. It is enough to induce me to seriously consider a fast 22 caliber. Great report.

They are a short enough bullet that they seem to stabilize fine from a factory 1:14 also. fast twist not required.

That is huge, since so many factory rifles are fourteen twist. When I build, however, I will definitely be building with a faster twist.

I have a fast twist 22-250 on order. Can't wait.

I've been shooting the 64 BSB for awhile in a 12 twist .223 Rem model #7. With a charge of CFE223 they achieve just over 3,000 ft/sec and shoot 1.5" at 200yds without much difficulty.

Never used it on game and probably won't but it is a more accurate bullet than I expected.

Very cool Dano. Those tough .224's are really game changers. Can't wait to try the 75 grain Scirocco.

I know this thread is several months old, but I just had to chime in on what a BAD-ARSS these bullets are! I put the smack-down on all sorts of critters with my little Ruger Predator rifle in .223. I have a friend that I load for who is a AR-15 fanatic that uses these bullets for deer deprivation permits in Georgia (killed 120+ deer to date) and can't say enough awesome things about them. Here is an 155lb. 8 pt. I shot at 176yds., granted I'm a neck shot lover in the little calibers, but the vertebrae looked like it went through a wood chipper!

This is the bullet and I found it knotted-up under the offside hide. . .still retaining good weight. Great bonding process for sure!

This next bullet is from a 180lb. hog I shot at 135yds. that just turned his chest cavity into Smuckers grape jelly! This was a true testament to me of the integrity of this bullet. . .it went through hide, 1 5/8" shield, rib, chest organs, offside shoulder blade, 1 5/8" shield and lodged under the offside hide in a golf ball looking knot. That was about 17"/18" of critter penetration! The hog did not run off, he just hunched up and wobbled around in a circle then fell over kicking.

Its a great coyote round too. . .not much pelt damage at least to the several that I have shot. My load for my little Ruger is LC brass, 25gr. Varget, 205GM primer and the 64gr. Nosler BB loaded to 1.875" to the ogive with a lite crimp. These bullets are running along at 2820 fps. and produce less than 1" groups at 100yds. Now. . .If we could only get Nosler to bump this to a 75 grainer sporting a polymer tip we would have high speed .224 bliss!!!
