6mm Remington: I went out on Sunday and did some shooting at 400 and 500 yards. Caught a 90 gr. AccuBond at 400, but at 500 it and the 100 gr. Partition slipped of the jugs after going through 4 and out the side. The load with the Partition in my 6mm was 3170 last time checked and 3240 on the AccuBond. I shot a decent 100 yard 13/16" group at 100 and when I shot it at 400 it was not much bigger, about double is all. Not all of my shooting was stellar. I was trying to juggle 4 rifles, I was facing east right into the rising sun, and then mirage really got bad. I sucked with the variables on my boys 6mm and 300 WSM and the groups showed it. I was trying to test the reticles to see how close they are to real life at a measured 400 and 500. They worked pretty well, but I did not. The extra magnification actually made it harder as the heat waves were more pronounced. Anyway, finally an AccuBond at 400 yards!

This was my first group of the day. I shanked one where the red dot is. I was laying on the ground just resting on a bag with a rear bag also. Fixed 6x Leupold - Ruger #1B

500 yards - I shot the wrong target on the third and put it right in the black on the center row of targets. Oops. It was pretty good for a fixed 6x.

Told you I stunk up the joint later on. 500 yards with the 6mm 90 gr. AccuBond. It was getting later and hotter and going back and forth, oh the excuses. Good with bad .

The AccuBond went through 4 and would have went into 5 and been caught, but as it was where it was stuck between the jugs, it cut the jug on the left and tore the plastic to where it ended up. 5 jugs at 400 is pretty good.

David,

Nice shooting! Good catch on the bullets.
I shot into 2.5 gal jugs at 700 yds last Sat. 2 shots and 2 hits but the big 338 300 gf AB skirted out the side of jugs 3 & 4. Tough to get them lined up at 700 yds. :x

Good info. Man you go through a lot of water bottles...HAR HAR! That appears to work great. I'll have to give it a try.

Looks like them AB's are working for you David! 2 in at 400 is 1/2 @100! That's just impressive good penetration! What's not to like about that?

It is hard Jim. I read your story. I love the gong idea and have thought about making something portable. It's great because you have immediate feed-back. It's either a hit or a miss and there's no guessing on where your group is.

It's fun and trying to catch them is hard. Having them squeezed together like I did helps keep them from squirting out the sides on you. I only had two single rows that were separated on the last 500 yard shots with the E-tip and the Partition. I hit them both great but the bullets slipped out into no mans land after going through about 4 or 5 each. I sure would have liked to have caught them. Next time.............

The Accubonds are pretty impressive. I sure put one to the test when I hit low and caught the particle board and then it went up into the jugs. You will have to check out the .308 caliber testing.

I can't help but be impressed, David. That is fine shooting and to catch the bullets is just phenomenal. Good account.

Great shooting David and an excellent bullet test! Way to go buddy! That is just awesome!

David, I like those Partitions at 400 yards! Still 64% retained weight and perfect expansion with great accuracy. You can't go wrong with that combination.

My .257 Roberts really likes the 110 gr Accubonds as well, under an inch at 200 yards. No place to shoot 400 yards.

Bigger jugs Jim, you need bigger jugs! Hard to find something that is inexpensive and will work like the simple gallon water jugs for 89 cents each. That's awesome that you hit them at 700 yards let alone keep a bullet in them. I think you had fun though anyway didn't you! :)

Great Test & Thanks.
I enjoy the heck out of doing it. It's a lot of fun. I need to get my son out there like Scotty does with his kids and it will be a hoot. They really like it especially at close range where all the excitement is!!
