140 AB from a 7-08 rem

My boy busted some jugs a few days ago, oh what fun it is! Especially to see him nail them. He's 11 and shot his first deer this last year, cut the heart right in half! He's pretty good with his 7-08. We shot the 140 ab at 30 yards, velocity 2800 fps. Busted 5 jugs, weight retention of 77% and expanded diameter of .480", just a nice pretty AB mushroom, I think a real keeper in the 7-08 rem

That looks to be about the ideal bullet for that cartridge. I know that in the 280, the 140 weight bullets have served me very well over the years.

That looks good as well, should expand a long ways out there and do well at close range.

The ideal deer cartridge/bullet combo in my eyes. Thank your son for the effort and the upload. Sounds like he's set for some time with that combo. Well, until he can start buying his own rifles and then he'll be woefully equipped and must buy several more rifles!! :grin:

Great report again! That AB and 7-08 look perfect together.

Love my 7mm-08, I never feel under-gunned with the right bullets, looks like you had great results.

That will be the next bullet I will be trying in the 7-08, looks like the perfect match.

Load about 1K AB's, and never look back for the rest of your life. (Just remember to have 2K 140BT's on hand.... they just HAVE to be in the equation)
