Elmer Kieth

A week or so ago, between Colorado and Oregon elk hunts, I was doing penance, took Susan shopping for antiques. Found this bronze sculpture of Elmer Kieth holding two elephant tusks. $10,000, (its real ivory). I like his stories, but not that much.

I agree with you, not interested in any statues at crazy prices.

When I was a kid I read 'Hell, I Was There' so many times the cover started falling off.

In New York State, that statue could not be sold due to the NYS laws against trading in ivory. I have read articles where NYS has destroyed tons of ivory the state has confiscated. I don't know if it is even legal to own or possess ivory in NYS. But, it certainly can NOT be sold.

I'd rather go get my own ivory...

But my wallet doesn't agree with that option either! :mrgreen:
