200AB on ELK - No bullet recovery

The subject line pretty much sums it up. Full pass thru. Center lungs going in and out the top of the shoulder. Exit was about the size of a quarter. Bull went 15 - 20 yds.

This is the 2nd bull with the AB, the other was with the .277 - 140gn AB and DRT.
 
Yeah, sometimes it can be tough to recover an AB. Congratulations on dropping your elk. Any pictures?
 
I believe it. Like Guy Miner posted in another post, AB is a plastic tip version of the PT. I have never had a bullet recovery, with AB's or PT's.
 
I would bet it take alot of bone to stop that 200gr AB out of any of the 300 magnums. That is alot of bullet to slow down. Great report. Thank you. Scotty
 
I prefer exits, and while the 180 gr. PT is my go to bullet out of the 06 for Elk,,, I did get a bunch of 200 gr AB 2nds,,,just cuz. Kinda one of those " never know/can't hurt thingys.
