What is the minimum terminal velocity for 200 gr AB?

I bought a rolling block that had been converted to 38 special with a custom .358 rifle barrel. I reamed it out to 357 max.

I could get the 200 gr AccuBond going 2228 fps at the muzzle.

The range I could hit something is 360 yards, but the terminal velocity would be 1040 fps.

I worry the bullet might not expand.

I believe that you need 1800 fps for reliable expansion on game.

I would recommend a lighter bullet, such as a 180 gr to increase velocity.

And as much as I love the AB bullet, with lower velocities, you may want to consider a cup and core bullet for improved expansion - perhaps the Speer Hot Cor 180 gr?

1800 fps ?

Thanks!

I could do that out to 110 yards.

I have killed deer at 625 yards with 6.5-06 and 7mmRM, but over the last 3 years, half the deer have been 100 to 200 yards.

For 2021 I have (2) 6.5x54r Vostok rifles built, and a 260 Rem.
I have (4) deer tags, but the wife only wants (3) in the freezer.

Maybe my 357 max will just get to sight in and shoot over a chrono.
Maybe it will find a 110 yard shot.
