My grandson was given a Aegis for his college graduation,(what a gift).Anyway he wants to get a fully adjustable rear sight. From what I've researched not all dovetails on 1911's are created equal. Can anyone recommend an adjustable sight that doesn't require machining.

Well, with that handgun, I'd discourage him from getting an adjustable sight.

It's a compact, self-defense gun, not a match pistol. Properly handled, it should shoot to the point of aim at distances appropriate for that firearm.

That's from 40+ years of carrying and using self-defense type pistols and many years of training people, cops, Marines, to shoot well.

If he really wants an adjustable sight on it, I can think of no better choice than to task the Kimber Custom Shop with that. But I still think it's a poor choice.

If he's missing, and is a right hander... I'd bet he's missing low and left on the target. That's not a firearm issue, it's a shooter issue. Get the young fellow some coaching, send him to a GOOD shooting school. Gunsite perhaps.

Regards, Guy
