I have been loading for Several years now and Have the process down. Some very effective loads and several Data books. If anyone has General Questions I can Probably help. Save your hulls! Most are very trade able. Cheditte, Federal Gold metal, Buckshot hulls, 3 1/2" and 3" Paper base, Fiocchi, Remington, Rio All make great hulls for steel shot. Your old target press will work. Save your CCI rifle Primer trays.

Some of the faster steel shot loads are getting expensive enough now to warrant loading them. We loaded a bunch way back when the loads were rather lethargic to get the speeds up but the manufacturers followed suit and the ammo prices went down. Now for Remington Nitro steel 3" your paying 18.00 and up a box and Hypersonic is 25.00+. Back when Kent first came out with faster steel shot they were only 8-10.00 a box.

What are 3" loads costing you now to load and how fast are they?

Current costs to make 3" 1 1/4oz 1400fps steel loads is still under $10 per 25. Probably in the $8.50 range.

Have you done anything faster? We were doing some 1600fps loads the last time I reloaded.

I have found that More Pellets of Larger size kill as far as I can hit. In the 12ga with 3" hulls 1 1/4oz at 1375-1425 or 1 1/8oz at 1475-1560fps with Steel #1 or copper plated B Pattern the best at longer ranges. 12ga 2 3/4" with #3-#2-#1-B Using 1470fps data Work Excellent. Just pick Shot size to Match bird. Pheasant-Chukar-Teal-Ducks in the Decoys Steel #3 or #2. Big Ducks-Windy-Geese #1 and B. Or I shoot the 10ga Where I do run 1600fps 1 3/8oz BBB and other loads

This is a 2 3/4" 1470fps 88 B load, 1 1/16oz. at shots at 40yrds32-88LBC.jpg
