Post subject:  Muzzle loader barrel

Does anyone use the muzzle loader/black powder barrel on their maverick 88 or Mossberg 500?

I have one that was given to me along with some powerbelt projectiles and triple seven 50 grain pellets. The powder pellets and bullets are compatible and do have limited load data for each bullet.

My biggest question is would these loads be safe to use in this barrel? I did refer to my owners manual and its load data is for projectiles that are almost twice the weight, and I dont plan on using bullets upwards of 450 grains. Way overkill for a dear.

What loads and. Projectile combos have you found to be sufficient for your use?

To help you they guys will need to know the brand, caliber and weight of the projectiles.
I'm a little old fashion and still use a regular muzzle loader and Black powder.

All bullets are PowerShot
Grains are 270,295, and 348 grain projectiles. Jacketed. Bullets. All .50 caliber and the powder is 50 grain pellets of triple seven by hodgdon.

The gun is a Mossberg maverick 88 with the 24" barrel.

Thanks for any help
