I wouldn't mess with your 300WSM at all. A Win 70 WSM is pretty easy and cheap to find. I also have a reamer that I'd gladly loan you! 8)

Well DrMike I did pick up a pound of Retumbo since my local Gunstore did not have VV570 or Reloader 33
What I was wondering is why when I look at Nosler Load Data Retumbo is not showing very good performance with Retumbo but Quickload does. It has me a little confused as so many people in the .264 Win Mag use Retumbo with 130gr & 140gr Nosler AB bullets to some impressive FPS.
Any way the brass is polished hope I can get some loaded later this week.
I will be using Nosler Brass
Primer CCI 250
130gr Nosler AB any suggestions how far I should start off the lands ?
Retumbo powder.

Talking about the Swede - any powder-suggestion for a 20“ barrel in an old (pressure-sensitive) M96 system?
Not an ideal combo, I know.

1100RM, I’d start them no closer that .050”. That’s just me since I haven’t ever had much luck with them closer. Retumbo will scream with 130’s as well. It’s what I started out using. I wanna say I was easily in the 3300 range. I’ll have to re measure where these 140 ABs are in relation to the lands but I’d bet a buck I’m .075” or further now.

NP, I’d think any of the traditional powders like IMR4350, H4831 and similar will work in the Swede at the old Mauser pressures.

Scotty is spot on in his recommendation on distance from the lands. I have never had much success when it was closer than 0.050 inches. Almost all my loads exhibit a sweet spot at 0.100 inches off the lands.

Well.....here's another hot 6.5 coming onto the market you might want to look at.
The 6.5 PRC, a 300 RCM case necked down to take a .264 projectile.

Seems to spit 143 to 147 bullets out at a good clip.

I dont think the prc qualifies as "hot"
2900 with a 147 isn't exactly a barn burner
Winchester outstripped that figure in 1959 with the 264 win mag and prc velocities are achievable in 260AI and 6.5x284.

More zip than the 6.5 CM, small enough to fit into a short-action magazine. Kinda.

Not up there with the 26 Nosler or the 6.5 Weatherby, but interesting.

I was pretty happy with the 264 on Friday. It’s done real well with Retumbo and 140 Accubonds. I used the first dot on the LR reticle and for the rest of the year I won’t touch this one.

To me, anything faster than the 6.5 Swede or 6.5 CM is "hot".

I've loved the 6.5 Swede for years. Still used to its ballistics.

Thanks fellas, the 264 Win still continues to impress me. It’s not quite the 26 Nozler or 6.5x300 but it is very comfortable to shoot quite a few rounds thru and does perform.

From the number of veteran Jarheads I find at the rifle range, I suspect that more than a few of us fell in love with rifle shooting while in the Marines. The Corps makes a big deal out of it, and it seems to catch hold... Dad introduced me to rifle shooting, but The Corps really hooked me.
