It’s like it’s parent cartridge the 308, very easy to load for. It really shines with 200-225gr bullets

My BLR in .358 Win would put three 200 grain TSX into 0.3 inches. Worked very well for about anything I wished to hunt in BC.

My lever action rifles include a Winchester 1873 in 38-40, Browning 1895 in 30-06, Marlin 336 in 30-30, Marlin 1895 in 45-70, Savage 99C in .358 Win, Ruger 96/44 in .44 Rem Mag, and Ruger 96/22WRM in 22 Mag. They are fun to shoot but don't get out of the rack often enough. Maybe that should be my New Year's resolution.

Mines a 358 Winchester. Love the rifle, works excellent and shoots 225 Nosler Partitions really well. It is one of the best handling rifles I own, but I used it a bunch when I got it, taking a bunch of deer, so it's been sitting for awhile. Need to break it out limber it up one of these days!

I have a few m94s, 64s of the Winchester variety, all in 30-30. A browning pre81 BLR .358 Win. and a Savage M99 .358. I did have a Savage 99 in .303 Savage but sold it to a collector who wanted it more than I did.
Speaking of the .303 Savage, I've always wondered why Winchester never used that 190 gr. bullet for the 30-30. AFAIK, they wouldn't even sell the bullet as a component. Gun writer Sam Fadala had a very good book on the 30-30, "WINCHESTER'S 30-30 MODEL 94" is the title. He commented on that bullet and said he'd buy .303 Savage ammo by Winchester, pull the bullets and sell the primed brass so he could load them in his very nice custom M94. I met him once a few years back. Hell of a nice guy.
I've shot a couple of deer with a 190 gr. cast bullet and nary a complaint from the deer. I still think Wincheser screwed up by not loading that bullet in the 30-30.

Have 2 BLR 358 Winchesters, there is no magnum at the end of Winchester though. I shot well over 2 dozen deer and one moose with my pre-81 in Alaska. I lived there for 12 years and originally hunted blacktail deer in Prince William Sound with a Savage model 99EG in 300 Savage but switched to the 358 after a brown bear reached up over 10 feet and pulled down a deer we had hanging. I also have the newer model BLR in .358 WCF but have only shot a few mule deer here in Montana with that rifle. It shoots the Buffalo Bore 200grain Barnes ammo very well. Haven't shot an elk with it yet but maybe 2022 will fix that.

Haha.. yah. I like magnum at the end because my shoulders can take it… still, 358win in a lever is on my list of great rifle to own.

I've owned three BLRs chambered in 358 Winchesters, and each delivered excellent results on game. I now own a Ruger chambered in 358 Win. It delivers excellent accuracy, but it is not a BLR. To get magnum, I had to build a 358 Norma Magnum. It delivers a definite punch on either end of the rifle. Still, I miss having a BLR chambered in 358 Win. Guess I have to settle for three Model 94s chambered in 356 Win. I have come to love these rifles. And, oh, my, these medium bores are something that everyone should own at one point or another.

I'm a Winchester M88 fan and have several in 308 and one each of 243, 284, and 358. I just like how they come up to my shoulder and point where I'm looking. To me that is the most important attribute of a brush rifle for close in work. The 358 is tough to beat for a cartridge that can throw a big chunk of lead for up close and still not leave you lacking if a 250yd. shot is called for. I've often considered having JES rebore one of my hunting grade 308 rifles to 338 Federal. Why, well just because.
