I would like to have a 35 cal. cartridge that would have a little more punch than a 35 Whelen, but I surely don't need or enjoy shooting something like the 358 Norma. Seems that the 376 Steyr necked down to 35 would be very useful. What are your thoughts on this? I sure someone has already done it, but I couldn't find anything on it. I'm left-handed so anything I want, I have to build it.

Panhandlepr1,

I know the Steyr-Mannlicher factory technical people wanted to do a series of cartridges on this case similar to the X56 cartridges of the early 20th Century, but never got around to it. I expect they would have done a .300, and I saw a drawing they had of a .416, but I don't know about a .35.

How about a .350 Rem Mag? That would be easier to find...jim

just neck it back down, I think it was about the same as the 358 Norma mag in power.

Or maybe an AI 35 whelen, that would give you a little more umph.

I have found the 35 whelen kills everything pretty dead in oregon, using a 250 part going 2503 fps backed by 59 grns of BLC2.
