I've ran into a bit of a stumbling block with my latest AR 15 build..I have an ARP 5.56 barrel, but it has 5/8-24 muzzle threads instead of standard 1/2-28 threads..I've googled 'till my eyes hurt and cannot come up with a 5.56 brake/compensator with 5/8-24 threads..Plenty of 7.62 come up..ARP has some on his site but they show out of stock. So my question is: Will there be a performance loss if I use a 7.62 brake/compensator on a 5.56 barrel? I've read a theory that a "pressure bubble" will form in the comp if its over sized..Maybe I should just try to find a thread protector, this one is going to be used off the bench only and not out hunting, so fast follow ups aren't needed.
Thanks.

I doubt you'll notice a difference. A lot of guys running 5/8x24 brakes on 6-6.5 calibers. I use a seekins 30 cal brake on my 6.5 grendel no problem.

If anything it will make it easier down the line to use a 5/8x24 threaded suppressor on all your guns

Thanks, I found a 6.8 comp with 5/8x24 that I think I'll try and see how it does.
