IMG_0963.JPGMore out of curiosity than necessity, I recently picked up a new
Compass to see what I thought of this new model. Decided to try it in 22/250. It came in the
Other day so I installed a Weaver 4x12 Tactical on it and here is what
I found: Incredible value for the money. Pros: Threaded barrel for brake or
Silencer, 3 position Model 70 safety, clip that holds 5 rounds, cheekpiece
On the composite stock. Trigger that adjusts for OT and WOP. Met manufacturers
MOA claim.
Cons: Heavy at 7 lbs before you scope it, Has standard T/C " Achilles heel " the bolt handle is very
Short and hard to get ahold of" ( they should fire the design engineer) Clip design
It is a slicker clip than Rugers rotary mag in their American,( it's easier to load) T/C and Ruger could both learn
A thing or two, from Mossberg their clip is superior to either.
I suspect the 5 groove rifling and precise alignment of the barrel to the action
Explains the wonderful accuracy of the Compass. It's a shooter. Here is a three shot
Group off a bench at 200yds, factory PPU ammo I bought just to get the cases!IMG_0993.JPG

Looks to be a sound acquisition if anyone is looking for a truck gun, a loaner or something that will handle rough handling. Excellent report, E.

Nice rifle at a reasonable price.
Should make for a dandy coyote rig.
