My buddy "LR" had a Tikka with a beat up old stock. It shot great, but looked pretty janky. I thought the rifle had plenty of character and told it tells through scars, and that he should just leave it alone, but He ordered a Boyds Prairie Hunter stock and had the checkering and engraving done and had a limbsaver fitted. We pretty much just dropped in the action and torque the screws...Aside from moving the POI to the right, it doesn't appear to have messed with accuracy..He always shoots Federal Prem Vital Shock NBT, so that's what we took with us to test fire after the stock swap..It's pretty, and it shoots as good as it ever did, but the old war horse just isn't the same to me. But it's not mine and I'm glad he's happy it, and he has a rifle to be proud of.

That definitely looks great.. I am sure he will put some new scars on it! That's a great looking rifle and man, it shoots!

Haha, I'm sure he will..tramping through the greenbriers and laurel thickets around here, it's tough not to get scratches..

I replaced the plastic stock on my Marlin XS7 with a Boyd's Prairie Hunter, and I love it. I didn't spend the extra money for the checkering, but that looks nice. Mine shoots good, too.

It did spiff it up. That should help resale when that time comes. I do agree that the various scars our firearms wear are glory marks, each one rich with memory.

Very nice. Boyd's builds a nice stock and they look great for what you pay for them you can't beat them.
