I was grabbing a few things at sportsman warehouse and saw this magpul polymer rail. Designed for AR applications I got the lightbulb moment. I could easily mount that on the sling swivel of that 338 RCM I just aquired.

Two minutes and a properly sized drill bit later and I have a sweet accessory rail on the ruger compact. Could be used for either bipod or light. By making the rear hole slightly larger it allows some adjustment to perfectly alingn the light.

This will be particularly handy when paired with the cool NECG rear peep that fits in the ruger integral bases.

That should help a lot if you should have to track something after dark or during your 24hrs of darkness.
Couldn't help but notice yours doesn't have a muzzle brake on it so it's not the Guide series with the 20" barrel?

That is what I would of loved to have had Racoon hunting, as I had a Duracell 6volt lantern I would hold with my left hand and try to line it up with my .22LR to shoot. Nice Idea.

Very useful addition.

I put bright flashlights on all the AR-15 patrol rifles at my police department. They were wonderful to have!

Followed up a wounded bear at night once, and was really wishing I'd had a better flashlight setup. My buddy had a lantern and NO GUN, and I had my 44 mag revolver and a small but bright handheld flashlight... We really shouldn't have done that... :)

The NECG sight came super quick! It looks great and should make for a very handy backup sight setup.

That's a good looking setup! Question on the NECG... does the aperture hold the vertical elevation or can you adjust the aperture in the field without affecting elevation?

The elevation is adjusted by a screw that’s raised or lowers the piece that holds the aperture. Windage is adjusted much the same as the leupold adjustable bases but has a set screw to lock one side in place after sighted in and allows for a return to zero when removed and replaced.
