Roland and I met at a LGS for yesterday. He got there before I did and pointed out a Rem M700 in 264 WM from the Rem. Custom Shop. I spoke to the owner of LGS and he said it was on consignment from a private owner out of Rochester, NY. The LGS said he didn't think it had been shot. The rifle has beautiful wood with a rose wood forend tip. I looked it over, what appears to be the original screw blanks are still in the receiver. There were no iron sights on it and there were no indications that a scope had ever been mounted on it. There appeared to still be some cosmoline on the bolt. The original box is an older color green box.
I would think that this combination of LH M700 in 264 WM would be quite rare. Particularly coming from the Custom Shop.
If I hadn't just bought the Montana 300 WSM I might be interested but not now.
The LGS is Schultheis Sporting Goods, Arkport, NY. 607-295-7485.
