Wanted one for awhile now ( that darn Scotty again!) And it came in yesterday. Have some 75 gr ELDs and the new 85gr Nosler RDFs that are ready, to sit ontop of some 414 so will see how she shoots! Mounted it up with a 30mm side focus 4X16 Legend on it, with a holdover reticle in it, out to 600yds. This is Bushnell's HD glass; in a "European Style" scope. On Leupold rings and bases. Should be wicked on the songdogs shortly! Installed a tactical bolt handle and set the trigger at a nice crisp 2.5 lb pull. Very happy with this T3x, and looking forward to being able to shoot these very high BC bullets....out of a 22-250!20181129_203240~2.jpg
Anyway somehow the word got out and yesterday a few
Coyotes were spotted wearing this!Darrick-coyote.jpg

I recently got one of these, too. I test drove it with 69 and 77 Matchkings and it shot them both very well, easily sub MOA. Mine wears a Bushnell Elite 4500 6-24x.

I'm a huge Tikka fan and this rifle's performance only reinforced that!

Ron

Congrats on the new rifle. It should put fear in those coyotes.
You got to watch out for that Scotty feller.

That looks like way too much fun! Cool looking set up too- must be that bolt handle- nice. CL

Those 22-250s with the 1:8 shoot like laser beams.... very nice!

Well I hit the range with it yesterday with a 70 gr Nosler CC
and the 75gr EldM and 1st shot was 5" low n 1" right went
ahead adjusted for error, 2nd shot 2" low 1/2" right. 3rd shot cut the X out of the bullseye. Next 3 = 3/4" group with
the Noslers, so just for fun tryed the ELDs that are loaded
with the same powder charge 36gr of 414. Just to see where they would group..........same spot exactly! And that
grouping of 3 shots I covered with a nickel....... This is all off an old icy plywood table that I had to clear a foot of snow off it, siting on a plastic lawn chair at the local gravel
pit. The 8 twist is indeed a lazer with heavy bullets. This is going to be a FUN rifle. I did NOT realize this Tikka was NOT the "lite" model as that was how it was advertised? This barrel is a Standard contour; with NO flutes. So between that and the 30mm 4x16 (19oz) that gun is crowding 8lbs. With those loads above the recoil is basically non existent! A 6/8 year old could handle this easily! I am pretty sure this is a milk toast loading, for this gun: So may nudge Scotty, (since he is the culprit) into runing QL on the 75gr ELD , with 414 powder. I noticed in a couple of Nosler loads they listed WW760 as the top accuracy load. I am certain if you put this gun, in someone like Deweys hands; over a cement bench, with minor tweaking, and I am certain you would have ONE very small ragged hole!!!! Thank you Scotty, for some very good advice!
At 75/85 grs what can my 243 do as good or better than this does???? Hummmm

'Bout twenty years ago when the 80 gr Sierra HPBT was a fairly new thing, a buddy of mine put a 1:8 twist Lilja in 22-250 on his Rem 700 match rifle... Wow!

That thing worked great. Back then, I think all the rest of us were still using the 308 Win/168 gr Sierra Matchking... His drop & windage figures at 600 meters were rather different than what we were all using. And, he won...

Good point Guy! And so true. 80/90 gr bullets spit out way
North of 3k with BC over .500 now, makes these things a whole new ball game. I had 3 bags of these heavy bullets that would simply cartwheel out of the last 22/250. All of them shoot excellent in this 8 twist. Cant wait for the 1st Coyote to stroll out
To try at 500....... The gun is ready ,so its now just up to me
and the bullet!
Mike thank you for being so kind to post the data for us,
Always such a gentleman and willing to help others.

My 22 creedmoor running 95gr SMK @3085fps is simply amazing. Drop and drift is much less than the 308 or 6.5s.

I’m using a 1-7t considering how conservative I’m being with this load I imagine a 22-250 would come pretty close.

Holy that is amazing Bear. Thank you for posting that, going to print that out for non believers.

Congratulations on the new rifle, sounds like you have yourself a shooter. Those 22 calibers are a lot of fun.

Interesting comparison Bear.

Nice work! Glad you like it. I love mine. The 6.5 CM and 22-250 take turns in the truck. An 8 twist 22-250 is an animal with the 75 grain ELDs and Swift Scirocco.

I just ordered an 8 twist Ruger American from Whittakers for 280 shipped today, it will complement the 22-250 AI I just built but be much lighter for quicker handling. Very fun shooting rifles.

Sorry to resurrect/hijack an older thread, but I just got the same rifle & am looking to load the same bullet. However, I notice that Nosler shows a COAL of 2.600" for their longer/heavier/faster-twist loadings, and am wondering what the pros & cons are using that length vs. SAAMI of 2.350" (my T3x seems to still have room to the lands at 2.600). Also, any ideas how much the load data would change with the longer COAL?
