Took my old 06 to the range today, deer season is a little over two weeks out. Had this rifle 51 years.
Haven’t fired her since last winter but hoped she was still doing ok.
Pet load is 52.5 gr 4064; pushing a 150 NBT.
Tried the same load pushing a 150 TTSX and a 150 NAB
THE TTSX is a 4 shot group cause that’s all I had in the open box
The others are five shots
100 yards.
Think I need to get rid of her?

53 gr of 4064 and 150 gr. The ole standby load in the '06!

Bucked hay most of the summer I was 13 to earn the money to buy her. We’ve had a lot of good hunts

Nice shooting. The rifle is a keeper for sure.
What make and model do you have?

Yes sir! A shooter. Both the rifle and the trigger puller.

That's real close to what I like to run with 150's in the 06. 52 gr's Imr 4064. Good speed, great accuracy is what I've found.

It’s a Ruger Mdl 77 “tanger”

What impressed me is same powder charge; three different bullets, same point of impact for all practical purposes and throw out the shooter error, all three bullets shoot between 1/2and 3/4 MOA.
Zero at 200, put the point from the fat part of the vertical cross hair in the middle of the plate at 400 yards “ding”

Sounds like Ol' Reliable to me!

Get rid of her???

Maybe from your cold, dead hands! LOL

Good rifles don't get old - they mature if well kept.
Good shooting and yes: you might want another gun.
But you definitely do not need one...

Dang! Sell that ol' thing before you end up eating tag soup!

No way can it take game with groups like that.

Good shooting.
