Here is 1st test with RL-22

140 grain Nosler bt. .003-.005 off the lands.

Stay with this load ?
Or call it good?

Or do ladder test with H4831 and RL-22???

This is mostly hunting rifle , and play around with, I bought it cheap.

Douglas #3 barrel
Greyboe stock
4 by 20 Steiner
20 moa rail

If accuracy is what you're seeking, then you have achieved your goal with that load. You don't mention velocity, but I would assume it is more than adequate to take down game at reasonable distances. I'd be comfortable with that load.

Just depends on what you are happy with. For a hunting rifle that is fine accuracy and I'd be happy with it. Now a play around gun I'd work on a little more especially if you plan on putting the 20MOA rail to use.

It's definitely good to go. You could try seating the bullets deeper to tighten up your group.

Your group will be more than adequate to take down game. You should have little room for more powder. It may tighten up with a little more speed. What velocity are you getting?

What is your current COL and how far off the lands are you currently? Try .005" increments, which is a 1/4 turn on your seating die.
What is your velocity?

Haven't checked fps yet , son has the meter .
I wish I could get it to .250 inch ,

The rifle is a tad heavy,,
But it is a fine feeling rifle on the bench ,

Repeat the group at 100yds because its easy to shoot a tight 3-shot group occasionally. If it shoots well again, walk it out to 200yds - 300yds - 400yds.

I forgot to add that H4831SC has always been my best powder of choice for the 6.5x284, its temp insensitive as well. If you have some of that H4831, give it a try. The velocity may be a tad slower than RL-22, and RL-22 is temp sensitive. Just a heads up.
