20 is plenty for any upland shooting. If bought for waterfowl or defensive use the 12 likely makes better sense. You might consider looking at the Syrene line. Shotgun fit is likely the most important element of shooting one well.
It was mentioned home defense a couple posts in. We found a Remington hone defense 20 gauge for about 280. It fits her ok but still iffy about the caliber. I keep telling her it wont matter at 10 feet!

Yeah- at household range, the only one who'll know the difference is the coroner.
