Almost everything I need for an upcoming AR10 build. All I’m waiting on is the GIBBZ side charging upper/lower billet receivers. This is going to be a general purpose mid weight Ar10. Might get used for some hunting, will definitely be used on some steel. It will also be my “TEOTWAWKI” rifle. Those unfamiliar with the term teotwawki it stands for The End Of The World As We Know It.

18” proof barrel
SA adjustable gas block
Giesselle SD3G trigger
Magpul CTR w/riser
Magpul moe grip
Jp enhanced bolt
M5 free float handguard
Burris XTRII 1.5-8

This is going to be sweet!

Cool. Never had an AR10. I did have an M1A NM. It was a very accurate rifle but too heavy. Still have a bunch of ammo, the American Eagle OTM 168 is good stuff, a little hotter than the 168GMM. I always thought the AR10 made more sense.

I don't know why but I just can't bring myself to like any AR's. I have a complete AR15, a stripped AR10 lower, 2 stripped AR15 lowers, and a complete AR15 lower. I bought the lowers before Obama got elected and still haven't done anything with them. I guess I just demand more precision from my rifles.

That does seem like a good component list for yours though. I have a pile of Proof, Christensen, and HCA carbon barrels to build rifles with when I get time but they will all be bolt guns.

Got it put together today. I’m really liking this rifle. Just over 9 pounds. Everything fits together perfectly.

I’m going to get out tomorrow and shoot it.

I had to do a little playing around with the buffer weight to get function right but it’s shooting great now.

I did a little shooting today. Three brands of ammo all averaged at or just over MOA. Hornady steel match 155, Hornady American gunner 155, and federal GM match 175 SMK. Not surprising the gold metal match shot best.

Ammo doesn’t last long when there is hanging steel around. It was a challenge just waiting for the steel to stop swinging. I had a blast ringing steel out to 300 yards.

The only down side was if I used my suppressor it was way over gassed and sprayed gas into your face, if adjusted down to limit that it would short stroke without the suppressor.

I decided to just run this one sans suppressor.

Accuracy isn’t quite what I expected from a proof barrel. The best accuracy I have gotten was with 175gr federal gold metal match, averaging just under 1” for 5 shots st 100 yards. Several other loads run in the 1-1.75” for 5 shots.

The one happy note is that everything from 147gr ball, 150 fusions, 155 Hornady HPBT, 168 SMK and Hornady HPBT, and 175gr SMK all print into a 2.5” group right to the same basic POI.

Any ideas to wring out a bit more accuracy?
