243 win.

I have rifles that give excellent groups with flat based bullets but give poor groups with boat tail bullets. Of course none as bad as the OP has had. It would seem to me if his gunsmith has checked the rifle over and says it appears to be a chamber problem there is no need to question the other possible causes of poor accuracy at this time.

Hahaha Jim that's alot of ?? Yes I relieved the pressure points on the barrel my scope was and is a good one and mounted proper. Stock was tourged to 30 inch lbs. The gunsmith put it in a Macmillan stock and shot it. Then put one of his scopes on it and shot it again same results. I was bagging the gun properly. No hand touching the gun anywhere but the stock and trigger. I was not touching the gun anywhere in front of the trigger guard. I was shooting one handed with the bags supporting front and rear. There was nothing attached to the barrel. I tried everything I could think which is why I took it to a smith with a good quality stock and another scope to try it. The gun is brand new the crown looked fine. Gun is headed back to remington now hope they will do something about it.

Yes it is. I feel like they will. I will keep everyone updated when I find out what they do. Jim thanks for the input.

Sorry to hear of all your trouble. Had a Ruger American with chamber trouble and sent it back. They re-placed it. Remington should make it right. Dan.

I’m getting ready to have my .243 barrel pulled off my 700 sps for a carbon barrel install. About 80 rounds thru it. You can have it if you want it when it’s off. Shoots fine.

Well I got the word yesterday from the gun store the rifle is back from Remington. The guy that handled it for me said they sent me a new rifle. Hope to get by Friday and pick it up and see how it shoots. Must have been something bad wrong with the other one for them to just send a new one. Wish I knew what the problem with the other rifle was.
