Hello Fellas,
Just thought that I would share a pic with you of a 175gr ABLR from my 7mmRemMag MV 2815FPS, that I recovered from a big stallion Zebra that I shot at 180+-yards. The animal was full broadside and the bullet struck him first in the upper leg bone, penetrated both lungs, and the bullet was recovered under the skin on the off side. He made it around 100 yards. The recovered weight was 77gr.
I don't think that you could ask for more than a bullet after hitting an 800lb animal at 180yds. Where the bullet struck, the animal is around 3 feet thick and this was after penetrating a massive leg bone.
The gun is a Rem700 remage action, Manners Stock, 26" 1:8 Criterion Barrel with a Vias brake. I am loading 63.5gr of RL23 and getting 2,815FPS with only 5fps of spread from fastest to slowest with 1/4" groups at 100yds unless I throw one...which I usually do
I am often tempted to up my powder charge to get more velocity but since it's working for me I haven't bothered.
Anyway, here's the pic.
