I have had this rifle since the mid 1970’s Remington 700 BDL 6mm Rem. I originally had a Weaver fixed four power scope on it for a few years then I thought I needed more power in a scope.
Then it had a Weaver 3x9 40mm micro track for close to 40 years with Weaver rings & Bases and was extremely reliable even thought it was large scope.
Today I mounted a Weaver 2.5 x 8 36mm Grand Slam with Leupold Dual Dovetail bases and Burris Medium Rings Dual Dovetail.
I probably could of went with low rings but this is what was suggested. I will say I had a had time buying a Weaver Scope since I do like Leupold Scopes and was considering a VX III 2.5x 8 36mm but I did hear some good reviews on the Grand Slam Scopes from Weaver and did want to try another brand. I think I even shaved a few ounces off going from a steel scope to aluminum.
I hope this lasts me the rest of my life and was my first big game rifle.

Nice! Some years ago my son requested that I change the 1974 vintage 3-9x Leupold out for a newer/better scope on our 6mm Rem 700 BDL.

I put a 3.5-10x Leupold on it - wow - even I noticed the difference! :)

Those rifles deserve good scopes.

Nice.

The 6mm Remington that I obtained and restored 2 years ago had an older Redfield on it. My intent was to leave it on since the original owner used it in that configuration, but the first time I took it out to shoot I noticed how horrible the parallax issues were.

Modern scopes are truly better than old ones.

Range Day started off bad the up and down turret was loose had to tighten it. Why on a scope I have no desires to dial has turrets you can index I don’t know. Was able to tighten it my friend had a Allen wrench.
First shot was 6 inches right and down 4 inches. I finally got it dialed in my last two groups just 2 1/2 inches high at a 100 yards.
The load was some old loads from 2006 of Sierra 85gr BTHP & Reloader 19.
My goal today was just get it close for Big Game Hunting.
Overall I think this new Scope is just the right size for this rifle and should last me the rest of my life, seemed clear but I did not take another rifle to compare it to.

Scope looks good on that rifle. Groups are decent - and I'll bet that you can tighten 'em up with a little work.

We've had great success with Nosler's 95 grain Ballistic Tip and Reloader 22. Right around 3,000 fps and very good accuracy. Results on mule deer & whitetail have been very good as well.

That setup and rifle looks nice. Those groups will work.

Not saying you need to, but if you'd like to try something different I've had real good results with that same bullet and 47.5 gr's of IMR 4831. Well under sub MOA in both a 18" pencil thin barreled Model 7, and a 22" barreled Remington 760. And held that pattern through numerous testing's with both rifles. Should get you north of 3200 fps with your barrel. That was with Remington brass, if using Winchester or Hornady you might have to up the charge a tad to hit the same results.

If I had Fotis knowledge of reloading it most likely shoot bug hole groups. But this load Sierra 85gr BTSP averaged under 2.25 inches at 300 yards. So for me this is good enough for Coyote’s. I don’t know if it the target I use.
