A Rifle the U.S. Military Needs.

The M4 is incredibly underrated. Unless you're fighting in mountains with lots of dead space, the 5.56 NATO is quite capable. The mean rounds between stoppages and mean rounds between failure in the last individual carbine competition indicated that none of the rifles tested would outperform...

    windham weaponary src

My only requirement from an AR is a 1/7 twist. I don't think there is a huge quality difference between the various manufacturers around that price for the Windham. Don't get too wrapped up in which manufacturer is better than which. Identify the features you want and get the best deal you...

    Nosler CC bullet failure?

I doubt the .223 could push the 80 grain fast enough to cause it to fall apart in flight unless there was a serious defect in the manufacturing. I've gone through a few thousand CCs in .30 cal, including a feweek hundred SPS seconds. I haven't had any failures in flight. I suppose it's also...

What fast .30 caliber for my new barrel?

I second the .300 Win Mag. It's a classic performer. If you want to go faster, the .30 Nosler looks pretty good. If you want to go as fast as possible and use all of your magazine box, get a .30-378 WBY.

    Preferred .40 S&W Bullet Weight

Thanks for the input guys. I bought a bunch of Ranier 180 plated FPs to load up some practice ammo.

    Some Glock Parts and Accessories

I put the 6 inch lone wolf barrel on mine a few years ago and found that I hated the extra length. I had my brother cut 1.2 inches off the muzzle. It still sticks out a bit but it doesn't bother me as much as the six inch did.

    Some Glock Parts and Accessories

I finally got around to improving some of the Glock 20's shortcomings. I wanted to make my Glock 20 into a fast and accurate combat pistol. The first thing that had to go was the sights. Everyone knows that the factory Glock sights leave a lot to be desired. The plastic goal post and front...

SWFA tactical scopes. Any experience with these?

I have the 10x with side focus. It's really clear and clicks in the turret are very noticeable. The only complaint I have on the SWFA scopes are the height of the turrets. They are definitely not low profile.

    Practice Loads

I have a G20SF with a 4.75in lone wolf barrel on it and I want to load up some training rounds. What is the advantage of cast bullets vs copper plated bullets? They are about equal in price, are they equal in accuracy?

    Preferred .40 S&W Bullet Weight

Hey guys, I just got a new Glock 27 for concealed carry and I would like to know what your favorite bullet weight is. I use heavy bullets in the 10mm but I wonder about the case capacity of the .40 with the heavy bullets when compared to the 10mm. Out of the 3.42in barrel, is heavy and slow...

    Across the Course High Power

I shot a 663 yesterday, a mere eight points away from shooting my first sharpshooter score. I shot a 167 standing, 170 sitting, 156 prone rapid (66 first string, 90 second string), and a 170 prone slow fire. I had two misses in the last stage and learned a very valuable lesson about my rifle...

    Across the Course High Power

Man its been a long time since I updated this thread. I went out to test some new 600 yard loads for the M14. I shot 25 rounds, five shots in each group. The first two were close to the lands and they shot horribly. Four inches at 100 yards. The third group shrank to 3 inches and the...

4064 is THE powder for the M1.

    A new rifle....

My long range load is 42.2gr IMR 4064 under a 175 grain Custom Competition and my short range load is 40.8 grains of H322 under a 125 grain Speer TNT. The H322 load is really soft and accurate.

    Across the Course High Power

I took the M1A out for a match yesterday. That thing is awesome! It shoots much better I can but I haven't been to the range in 3 months. It was a pretty windy match. The match started off ok. I shot a 170-2X standing. I was getting pushed around an awful lot. I shot a 176-1X sitting. My...

    Gun stores in Vegas???

American Shooters is ok but like everyone has said, Vegas is a little weak on good bolt actions.

Scratch another off the bucket list

I just checked how my light loads function in it and didn't shoot for accuracy. Other than that I've been shooting the Garand. I shimmed the gas cylinder and installed a NM op rod guide. I'm taking it out this weekend before I head back into work to shoot for accuracy.

Scratch another off the bucket list

The rear sight aperture is designed to be a little loose in the sight base on the stock M1/M14. This allowed apertures to be switched out without fitting. The only thing NM about the rear sight on the loaded model is the size of the aperture, they are not hand fitted so a little bit of slop is...
