A ridiculously obvious spin on sweet potatoes. I'm somewhat ashamed I didn't think to try it sooner.
4 large sweet potatoes
Slightly less than 1/2 cup heavy cream
4 tablespoons butter
Crushed or ground black pepper to taste
Peel and cube the taters into ~ 2" pieces. Boil just as you normally would - for 20 minutes to half an hour, or until they fall apart with a fork. Coarsely mash. Add the cream, butter and pepper, and whip with a mixer.
These go great with most any meat dish, but particularly with game. I first had them at the Weber Grill restaurant in Chicago a few weeks ago and made my mind up I was going to try to duplicate them. One more reason I love my KitchenAid stand mixer!
