M1903 Springfield. They are beautiful rifles that stood up to their intended uses, and can still be had and made into serviceable rifles today with the right TLC.
Also, Hemingway used one on his African safari to harvest all his game.

Hey gents
I am seeking your input into what caliber I should barrel my FN SPR action in? It's got a 308 bolt face, and will be run with CDI bottom metal and AI mags. Barrel is gonna be a Brux between 20-22 inches in a bull sporter contour all sat in a Manners T6A elite carbon. I'm intending it...
Got some more at night. This property is looking really good. Got a little work to do to make it a little better, should keep my busy until September. Hopefully I can find the hogs on the property, just can't catch them on cam
Thanks Wildgene. That Creedmoor looks awesome. I think one of the 6.5's or the 25-06 will be my final choice.
Wildgene, what type of accuracy are you getting from the Creedmoor?
Will do. Right now it's a battle of the 6mm, 257, and 6.5.
The 6.5 Creedmoor has been brought up and Terry found one of the Vanguards chambered in it. I have been lusting for a Creedmoor but not sure of its performance on game.
Thanks once again guys. I am now looking at a #5 bull sporter profile barrel from Brux with interrupted fluting. Smaller in diameter than the Rem. Varmint I mentioned earlier, and finished at 22". Thinking 8 twist will work so I can run the heavies if I so choose.
But, school me on the 25-06. I...
Thanks gents. Gonna look real hard at the 243. Thinking a Remington Varmint taper barrel. What twist and barrel length should I use? Would like it to be not to long to keep it nice and handy.
Will definitely look at the 243.
Any thoughts on the 260? I saw you can get bullets as light as 100 grains and all the way up to 160, but the 130s and 140s sure look like a good balance of power and speed?
I am going to begin collecting the parts to build my hunting rifle. I am looking to build a rifle I can use to hunt varmints and small to medium game.
What caliber do you all think would be ideal to build the rifle around that would suit my purpose? I want it to be at the minimum a 6mm, but...
If one was looking at a 18" barreled 308 versus a 7-08 sporting a 20-22" barrel, what would the down range difference be considering velocity and energy? Would it depend on the type of bullet used in each rifle?
May have another project on the fire [emoji6]
I handled the Affinity quite a bit it and it is at the top of my list right next to the Benelli M2. The Benelli felt a tad better but the Affinity was almost there with it, and the Affinity offered everything but the comfortech stock for less money.
Ill be the odd one here. Take a hard look at the 6mm. They are top dog in the LR shooting circuit right now. Push a 105 hybrid at good speed and you have a serious winner with minimal recoil.
My next build is going to be a 6 Creed or a 6x47 Lapua. The 243 pushing a 105 hybrid or a 115 d tac is...
Just picked this bad-boy up from the shop...opening the pelican was like opening a chest of gold. I had to pry it from my shop owners hands. Everyone in the shop wouldnt give me 5 minutes to go over the rifle.
Fit and finish are out of this world. I though the rifle would be heavy but honestly...
Thanks Mike.
Rifle comes in tomorrow. Will either pick it up before or after work, depending on when UPS delivers it to my FFL. Scope will be here in another few weeks.
