Well I fireformed two more cases today and had some jugs so I decided to try and jug one without sights. I was surprised after one shot yesterday that I had figured out were to hold on my second shot. I was running the 200 gr Hornady over 50 gr of 4895 and according to load data I'm somewhere around 2500. The bullet penetrated and mushroomed well and was found in the 5th jug. The bullet retained 67.7% of its weight with a recovered weight of 135.5 gr. It expanded to a diameter of .678".

That is reasonable performance. Hornady bullets have never treated me bad, provided I used them within the parameters for which they were designed to perform.

I'm not sure yet but I've seen data with 62gr of Varget at 3000 24" tube, a 210 PT over 64 gr of H414 at 2925 23" tube. I am just hoping for 2750 outta a 225 and to push 2600 with a 250. Which I think is very attainable. As I've seen data on plain janes push 225's at 2800. All of which I'm taking with a grain of salt right now trying not to get my hopes up. This data is posted on reloaders nest, but I'm not sure how accuate it is. But a 210PT at 2900+ what a hammer especially when using 12% less powder than a 338WM!

Yup that it would. I am hoping for 2950 and good accuracy from the 210 PT in my 26" Ruger #1S 338 Win Mag.

Great recovery Jake. I am thinking you will get excellent results from your 338 once you start to get it worked up some. 2900 with a 200 AB or 210 PT would be really awesome.
