Nice 40* today and barely any wind here today  I know freaky! Anyway took 4 levers out. The 3 45-70s
Marlin GG SBL 18" barrel
Marlin limited 24" 1/2 round 1/2 octagonal and
Winchester 1885 24" octagonal barrel

Also took out the Browning 71 in 348 Win.

This is what they did

Marlin Guide gun
300 gr TSX at 2200 fps with AA1680

Marlin limited 24" 1/2 round 1/2 octagonal

325 FTX at 2400 fps with H4198

and

325 FTX at 2300 fps with RL7

And
Browning 71 348 200 gr Hornady at 2600 fps with H4350

All of them are sub MOA.

With the 1885 I loaded 405 gr cast with 34 gr of AA5477. I fired a couple of rounds (Around MOA) BUT chrono said 2540 fps!!!!! (?????) so I stopped.

I then swapped to the IR screens and shot some more and some other loads and all did same thing!!! Have to figure it out!

Anyway GREAT DAY!

All guns wore peeps except the GG. That wore 1-3 weaver scope.

BTW coffee filters make GREAT peep sight targets as seen in aforementioned pictures LOL

That is some fine shooting, Fotis. Beautiful rifles all. Lever guns--they are just fun!

Fantastic targets. Great load development and shooting, Fotis. Beautiful rifles. How do you like the big loop on the GG SBL? I have been contemplating getting one for my Marlin.

Dan

Very nice Fotis! I'm digging that 300 FTX load. Talk about a killer.

2500 with a 405. How'd the rifle recoil? That's 458 Win sorta killing?

found the new Marlin to be terrific!

Shoots all the loads great!!!

I like the looks of that Marlin LMT1. That's a Tom Horn rifle if I ever saw one.

There literally is nothing you "couldn't" do with a rifle like that.

Fotis...have you ever taken a .45-70 out for antelope? I was watching a hunting show the other day that was showcasing the "One-Shot" Challenge hunt that takes place in Wyoming each year. Looks like a lot of fun.

Thanks for sharing -

Dale

Thanks guys. I tell you that AA5477 has me stumped. 34 gr should yield about 1700 fps.....

BTW the Limited 1 got a Skinner sight upgrade! BRASS Front sight and peep! Love them!

Fact of the matter of those targets; your a darn good shot Fotis! Well done. I have to post a picture of my Win 1886 ELW 45/70 on here ,it's a Ulrich engraved #10 pattern with Silver wash finished.
Also have its baby brother the 1892 in 44/40 with#9 pattern and Silver washed to match the 86....

Trying to think of some smart alec remark to make about Fotis' targets....I just cant do it....the guy can shoot  . Very nice sir! I couldn't do that with a 12X! CL

Tell you what guys

Skinner is the way to go for open sights. Love the front one also!

Sorry I'm late for this one, got a lot on my mind, but great shooting Fotis and some beautiful rifles.

Forty-five 70s are fun for sure.

Now if we could get Nosler to furnish a great 300 gr. bullet.
