Playing with the 300 weatherby again. Been getting close with the 200 Partition. Thinking this one will work for me. A little on the slow side for the bee, but don't thing spring bear will notice :grin:

Very very nice group. Velocity is indeed in the 30-06 level with RL17, or a little less than factory 300 win mag.
If that velocity will work for you go for it.

Gonna keep working on it but that load will be a nice fall back for black bear this spring. Everyone I have taken has been inside of 150 yards and most at 70 or 80 yards

That sure is a great group and yes it won't bounce off a bear at "only" 2700 fps Did you also apply for spring Grizzly? Should find out in a couple of weeks if we got tags.

I don't think many bears will hold a 200 PT at 2700 FPS!

May not be a screamer, but that should easily slay bears! Plus, I imagine your cases might last just about forever!

I agree with the rest when they say a 200 grain pill at 2700 is plenty. Thats about what my 208 grain Amax target loads in my 300 WSM are getting these days too and man they shoot good!

Thats a great big dose of dead for any bear you're going to meet!

What's not to like? The load won't beat you up; yet will will deliver incredible mass on target. There are few bears that will stand up to that bullet when it is placed in the vitals.
