    .358 Bullets Vs. Bruins

If you were hunting bear in Alberta in 4months shooting a 35 Whelen and had 200gr Hornady RN, Hornady 200gr SP, Sierra 200gr RN, Sierra 225gr BTSP, Barnes 200gr TTSX, Barnes 225gr TSX, Nosler 225gr Accubond, or Nosler 225gr Partitions available to you, what would you shoot? The hunt may involve...

Don’t Cheap Out on rings and Bases

I have had and used the DNZ mount/ring on a rifle or two but have since stopped using them simply because they were so dad-blame ugly! I know, I know petty is as petty does and that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I just can't get by the looks of them no matter how I try! But they sure...

    Wanted: Nosler cartridge carriers

Thanks Slimfinn for confirming that the Norma holders/carriers are the same as those that Nosler once used. Someday when you get that ammo all shot up and if you no longer have need of those I would be willing to purchase them or trade with you if we could come to a mutual agreement. Thanks, 358Goat

    Wanted: Nosler cartridge carriers

A strange request I know! A few years ago I was at a range and noticed a piece of grey plastic by the trash barrel. I was going to put in the drum but when I saw what it was I had to have a second look. It was a cartridge carrier from a box of Nosler factory ammunition. It's just a 5 round...

How long for Nosler to answer???

Thanks for asking JD! 1.) Have the 35 caliber 200gr Accubonds been discontinued or is that only rumor? 2.) Were the 35caliber 200gr Accubonds designed to expand on game as small as whitetail deer? 3.) When will there be another run of the wonderful 35 caliber 225gr. Partitions?

How long for Nosler to answer???

I dropped a line to Nosler nearly two weeks ago asking a couple of straightforward questions but haven't had any response that they have even received my post. This is the second time that I've dropped them a line in the last three months with no response at all. I've even attempted to call...

    Interesting evening

That was a most interesting read! Thanks for sharing a memory that you and your Mrs. will likely never forget. Large cats are not supposed to exist in my home state of Louisiana but I have absolutely no doubt about what I saw when I was about 12 yrs old. Thankfully I saw it but it never new I...

The allure of the Marlin in 35

I know I am not old but I am not as young as I once was. As I age I find that I am far more prone to hunt with guns that have that "right feel" about them. I currently have ten or more guns that I classify as deer rifles. They range from stainless/synthetic bolt guns to my Marlins and a BLR in...

What did you use to kill your first deer?

Three days before Christmas 1982 I killed a little 7point with my Christmas present that was given to me early. It was a Smith & Wesson 1000P 12ga pump. The buck was shot at about 40 yards with a load of 00 buckshot. He ran maybe a hundred yards and then piled up. What a wondrous morning it was...

Are the .358 200gr Accubonds really gone?

I'm always late to the party it seems. I got a box to try in my 35 Whelen a couple years back and never loaded them because a customer service rep told me that they most likely wouldn't expand on whitetail deer. I don't know if that is true or not but now have a box of good looking bullets I...

Which cartridge do you like so much, you have multiple firearms for it?

This post made me think about my early years too. After college when I moved out on my own I had a 410 and a 12ga, a 30/06and a 257Roberts plus a couple 22s. I didn't know just how good I had it! I really wish I had that BLR-81in 257Roberts back...

Which cartridge do you like so much, you have multiple firearms for it?

It's a disease and I don't wish to be cured! Most of my doubles 35 calibers but I don't make online lists...

    Here's my 336 Regular Carbine

This is the way that it looked several years ago. Since then I've changed the Leupold standard base and rings to Talleys and changed the scope to a Leupold 2-7x with Heavy Duplexes reticle. This rifle, caliber and scope seem to fit perfectly for the way I hunt. I could'nt imagine anything else...
