    .22 competition handgun

You would not go wrong with a Ruger MkIII or S&W M17, depending on your preference for a semi-auto or revolver. I have a Clark barreled Mk1 and a 1948 vintage K-22 (pre M17 designation). The K-22 shoots better for me, but both are competetive and easily within your price range. Both will...

    Hamburger Finger Help

Yes a muzzle break will help significantly. I am not a fan of muzzle breaks on most firearms, but did put one on a .30 Herrett Contender (10" barrel). The improvement was remarkable.

Better to reload for an M1A?

Regarding the M1a, you bet. Gas guns are not any different than bolt guns regarding tayloring a load to the rifle for best accuracy. You are more limited to powder burn rate though. Use powders in the 4895 relm and you will do well.

    Old Primers

I just shot the last of some small pistol primers I bought in 1977, they all went bang.

    Dented Cases

Really, you should strive to keep the shoulders lube free, you are not sizing the shoulder itself, though you might bump it back a little. You just want lube on the neck, case body and inside the neck. If you haven't tried spray lube, Hornady is really good for large quantities of brass...

reloading 130 gr silvertips (270 cal)

Be sure to start at the low end of charge weights and work up. Not all rifle chambers/barrels are the same, nor is the capacity of the brass. One rifle might shoot 60 g. H-4831sc with no signs of pressure, with a specific selection of brass, bullet, seating depth, primer, etc. Another may...

    .270 win. & IMR 4831

Raul, these loads far exceed any currently published data for IMR-4831 with the listed weight bullets. I believe it would be quite risky to suggest that someone use these loads. I have used H-4831 for many years in the .270, and it is more similar to the old surplus 4831 in burn rate than the...

What is the best case lube?

Imperial wax, or if you want to spray Hornady.

I began handloading in 1966 for a .270 Win and 30-30. So, about 40 years of handloading.

what would be the best 22 centerfire with 1-8 twist

I have a 22-250 with a 1:7 twist. It shoots everything I have put through it very well, but I shoot 75 g. Hornady's the most.

    Accubond/Ballistic tip ??'s

Can't say I share your experience. I have shot deer and antelope with the 130 g. BT from a 270 Win. (which shoots faster than 3100 fps with the load I use). I have never "blown giant holes" in Coues Deer, Antelope or Mule Deer. A couple of the animals were shot within 40 yards, which should...

    Bullets for a 1:8 twist .223

Maybe, and No. I have a couple of AR's with 1:7, and 1:8 twist, and a 22-250 with 1:7. When I began shooting the tighter twist barrels, I was told that "light bullets will vaporize from spinning too fast". And "light bullets will over stabilize". What I found out is that I can shoot 55 g...
