Yes I have. Even purchased additional magazines and they all have the same issue. 300 WSM, 7MM Rem Mag and 30-06 all have this issue on four discrete magazines for each caliber.
I agree and was also thinking about filing or dremeling the front wall of the magazine but as an engineer I cannot wrap my head around the fact that they are selling magazines that don't work correctly unless you modify them. It just seems so sloppy to me!
I own three Tikka T3 rifles in three different calibers. I love the rifles and they shoot great. That being said all three exhibit an annoying issue with feeding rounds out of the magazine and into the chamber.
The inside front wall of the magazines have a sharp inside edge with no ramp. The...
I am currently doing a search for a new hunting rifle. I find a model I am very interested in and it comes in two versions. One version has a 416 SS receiver and barrel with a matte finish and the other version has a steel receiver and barrel (I think 4140) that has a tungsten Cerakote finish. I...
After I clean my barrels, I have been running a patch with some rem oil on it through the barrel to provide some corrosion protection for longer term storage. Someone recently told me this is a no no as you should not use any oils that contain teflon or silicon on the inside of the barrel...
CALEBNM,
How did your hunt go? How was the performance of the 160 grain Accubonds? I am eyeing the same exact set-up for an elk hunt. Tikka T3X in 7MM Rem Mag so any information you can share would be appreciated.
Were you achieving sub-MOA accuracy?
So I am having much consternation regarding a light weight rifle for Elk that would also be suitable for Mule deer. Shots on both, out to 400 yards but no farther. I like the Tikka T3x rifles and am eyeing the new ROUGHTECH with a 24 inch SS barrel and SS brake in 7mm Rem Mag. Curious if there...
So glad to see this company coming back to life. They were also great products. I have an Encore Endeavor 50 Caliber muzzleloader and it's one of the most accurate firearms I own. It's awesome that they are threading the new barrels for a brake. When you shoulder an Encore it just feels perfect!
I should have clarified what I meant by sizing down. I was focused more on weight and not caliber or recoil. I love my 300 BEE, it shoots great but is an Accumark so it's a bit on the heavy side. 10 pounds fully scoped. I will be doing a mountain hunt so was looking to shave some weight. I was...
So I currently have 4 points and am planning on doing the hunt in 2027 (the year I retire) so I will have six points. That probably keeps me in a general unit. If I need to push out to 2028 or 2029 to pick up another point or two I can. I really like the topography in the western side of the...
Sorry for the confusion. I have a 300 WBY. I consider the WBY, RUM and 30 Nosler to be in a general category of Ultra Magnums but that might not be correct terminology.
NYDAN,
I am very curious about your comments regarding monolithic copper and lead-core bullets. Can you elaborate as to why you feel the WM is better with copper bullets and the WSM is better with lead-core bullets? The two bullets I would be testing are 180 gr Accubonds and 180 gr Barnes TTSX BT
Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!
I currently have a 300 Ultra Mag (300 WBY) and am looking to size down a bit to a standard 300 Mag. Looking at the Tikka T3 in 300 Win Mag or 300 WSM. Ballistically, they seem the same while the 300 WSM is a shorter action. Looking for thoughts on accuracy? Will...
I am planning on booking an elk hunt in western Wyoming for the 2026 or 2027 season and have been searching around on the internet for a good outfitter. If anyone has had good experiences with an outfitter in this area I would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions. As this will be my first...
I might give this some consideration as it's rare to hear anyone say anything bad about the 7mm Rem Mag. What loads, bullets and weight's do you use? Is it suitable for elk?
