I'll put in another vote for the Marlin 336 in 35 Remington.
I have used it for whitetail here in MI, but chose the 35 over the 30-30 should I "ever" need it for thick cover elk, and for black bear. In addition, I don't mind the fact that it's less common.
The Hornady 200FTX does a good job...
I just called them, nothing sent back.
Once you lap a set and see that they're good but not perfect, or have a set chip a scope, you don't mind lapping.
I've had them warranty a set that was way out of line and I tried to fix by lapping them.
They machine them to an "ideal" action and scope, but since those don't exist I usually lap them. I'll sacrifice a $50 set of rings before I sacrifice an expensive scope.
I have used many, many sets of Talley lightweight rings. They're my preferred combination when I can use them, whether my rifles, family or friends.
I do often lap them once installed just to avoid any slight pressure they might put on the scope. You usually don't have to, but I'm picky.
We're hoping to use 223 and 6.5 CM with suppressors to gain some range in a couple of places.
I haven't used my 450BM in 5 years, but this change brings in some nice possibilities.
We used https://www.hunterssupport.com/hunters/ and it worked very well. A local friend helped us fill out the forms using his as a template. I would not attempt to go through Tambo on my own after watching the experts guide us through.
I used this for a lock box for ammo...
RL26 and MRP = nonexistent, just like 7828SSC.
109% fill for the H1000. Great powder but that's more than I want to smash in there if alternates are available.
I use it in my 7mm Wbys a lot.
The 560 looks good in Dr Mike's list above. I have some RL19 but it belongs to another friend, and also not easily available.
Thanks @DrMike for the QL information. That does help.
Unfortunately IMR 7828SSC is not available and probably will not be for the foreseeable future. While I have enough for myself I'm at the point with a friend that he's out of his 2 pounds of 7828, and now out of previously loaded ammo. I've loaded for many 300 Wby rifles over the years...
@NYDAN - great report with pictures.
Also, if someone had a slug barrel on the shotgun then some of the parts are not used. It's easy to then forget them when swapping back.
I find that foaming bore cleaner down the barrel will work its way through the gas port and let you know if it's open...
There should be an o-ring in there.
In my experience, many of the substitute o-rings available are not the right size with regard to total diameter or thickness. You may want to see if you can find a real Remington o-ring, or consider looking at a few different sources.
Don't forget to clean...
