Heavy bullets in a .308 is a relative thing.
Due to case size, while you can shoot them the case doesn't really have the horsepower for 180gr bullets and above. Or, it's not the sweet spot.
150-168s are where the 308 really shines.
Having said that, if you trim the trigger spring to just under...
I had to have that done on a Mk V in 300 Wby a few years ago. It was done by GreTan, but they're not doing these at the current time as they're too busy.
It completely resolved the problem as well.
They alleged it would make the rifle more accurate too, and I can confirm that it surely didn't...
There's a KimberTalk forum with instructions:

I have almost all of my plethora of rifles at 2# pull weight. That includes any used in the winter, and generally if I'm shooting my finger is out of a glove. There are...
I've done several.
They are not difficult to do, and I have seen accuracy and repeatability improvement in bedding them.
Have you bedded any rifles previously?
Ouch!
You're lucky it appears to have "just" been hitting.
If you would ever put on a 30 cal suppressor I'd look VERY hard at the threads on your muzzle. I would wonder if they're not square to the bore.
In my experience, a braked 300 Weatherby Accumark is not a lightweight rifle, and recoil is much less that you'd think.
I actually enjoy shooting my braked (now suppressed) 300Wby as the recoil is very manageable.
Having a solid scope setup is always recommended, though.
So far I find Talley...
If it's the factory Triggertech trigger, it goes down to 2.5 pounds and no lower.
Feel free to unscrew the Allen screw on the bottom of the trigger out quite a bit to get to the lowest setting. Even if the screw falls out, you can screw it back in until you just start to feel it hit the internal...
I use the 180 Hammer Hunter in my 300 Wby, and 180 Barnes TTSX in Dad's and the one I loan my son.
All 3 rifles/both bullets do very well on elk.
In the last 2 years our elk have been 40, 285, 325, 230 and 85 yards for the 3 rifles. The 40 and the 85 yards were both offhand.
If you can routinely...
I'll ask as well - do you have any elk-capable rifle at present?
And did the outfitter say 600 yards? Or have others who used him said this routinely?
Or where did the 600 yard suggestion come from?
I've taken one at 400-450, a couple at 200 and 300 each, my bull last year at 40 and my first...
