257 Roberts and 120 gr Partition

3,000 with a 120 would be perfect. Although 2850 still keeps me above 2,000 to about 375 yards. Also, has anyone ever seen Partitions with a cannelure? I was wondering if they were maybe overstock or seconds for the old Federal Partition loads?

257 Roberts and 120 gr Partition

I used to use 100 gr BTs. And one of my Bobs loves them. I have found that the 100 grainers are a little light for some of the bigger hogs I come across. Plus, I got a really good deal on the Speers and the Partitions. That particular rifle is just about to get rebarreled because it is about...

257 Roberts and 120 gr Partition

Accuracy is pretty good in mine. I had a Brazilian VZ-24 rebarreled from 7x57 into 257 Bob probably 15 years ago. I had it built for my wife. 257 Roberts and 120 gr Partition

Does anyone have experience with the 120 gr partition at Bob speeds? I'm getting about 2850 fps with my current load.

270 load good enough for elk?

I took my first elk with a .54 cal lead ball at about 125 yards. The next 12 were all taken with my .270 win and whatever 130 grain ammo was on sale that year. As everyone else has said, shot placement is key. The Barnes will work just fine, like someone else said keep the velocity above 2,000 fps.

    Book vs. Real World

I do a lot of reloading for old military cartridges and find that quite often. Usually due to long throats in military calibers. I've never loaded for the 338 so, I can't help you there.
