    7mm Ultra Mag Barrel Life

I may not get 1500 but if the barrel will hold 1 to 1.5 moa it may be enough. It will do better than that now but it is a hunting rifle not a target rifle and the above would be enough. I won't mind sticking a Hart on it when the time comes anyway.

    7mm Ultra Mag Barrel Life

Thanks guys. I never let the barrel get too hot to comfortably touch and rarely more than just warm. If I can get 1500 rounds through the barrel I will be happy.

    7mm Ultra Mag Barrel Life

I am shooting a 7mm Remington Ultra Mag. and I am shooting it hot using Retumbo and a 160gr Accubond. I don't expect a long barrel life but does anyone have any direct experience with this caliber and barrel life? How many rounds should be reasonably expected fron this catridge and a factory...

    What is RUM?

Well, I just had to jump on this one. 270fan, the Remington Ultra Mags are, despite their critics, a family of the finest catridges ever to come down the pike. My personal favorite is the 7mm but I also like the .338 and .300. I confess I have no experience with the .375. These catridges can...

    Nosler BT good for hunting???

I would not hesitate to tangle with an Elk using my 30-06 and a 180 Ballistic Tip as they are more heavily constructed. However I doubt that would ever happen as I would definitely favor a 180 Partition or even a 200gr for Elk with that caliber. For me the Partition is THE Elk bullet. When I...

    ACCUBOND PROBLEMS

I've read Mr. Day's hunting and shooting comments on a number of forums for some time and he seems to be an experienced and knowledgeable hunter. I think he honestly reported what he experienced. What to make of it is something else. I am personally convinced the Accubond is a good bullet and...

    ACCUBOND PROBLEMS

Kodiak, I know the 210 Partition is a good bullet but for some reason my particular rifle doesn't like it very well. It does shoot 200gr Ballistic Tip and Accubonds very well and shoots the 225 and 250 Partition well also. I am shooting a second generation Model 70 Classic Super Grade. As...

    ACCUBOND PROBLEMS

I certainly like the Partition and will continue to use it but I also like the results I have gotten to date with the Accubond. For Mule and Whitetail Deer I will continue to rely on the 160gr Accubond in my 7mm Ultra Mag unless I personally experience a clear bullet failure. For Elk I think...

    ACCUBOND PROBLEMS

I've been watching that Bob. Something obviously went wrong. I haven't used any 225 Accubonds in my .338 but I have used 160gr Accubonds to take numerous animals in my 7mm with consistent excellent results.

    Thanks POP. Me either.

    ACCUBOND PROBLEMS

I agree. The Partition often gives me two holes, one in and one out. This seems to kill more quickly than one hole and a bullet that "dumps" all its energy in the animal. In addition, if tracking is necessary two holes will usually leave a better blood trail than one. All this helps explain...

    ACCUBOND PROBLEMS

By the way POP this will be the first time in about 16 years I won't be in Wyoming come October and I am already suffering withdrawals. Feel like Wyoming is my second home and when I retire it may become my first one.

    ACCUBOND PROBLEMS

Thanks POP. I really hadn't considered that but will probably still stick with Partitions for the big stuff anyway. I will say I haven't seen any problems with Accubonds so far and they shoot great in every rifle I have fed them to.

    ACCUBOND PROBLEMS

While I have had great luck on Mule deer with 160gr Accubonds in my 7mm Ultra mag I really never considered them for game like Elk in the first place. My .338 Win Mag. stuffed with Partitions does everything an Elk rifle ought to do. Is an Accubond supposed to be used for game Elk sized and...
