Thanks SJB. Can't, for the life of me, figure out why more people aren't using these bullets. I'm the only one in my circle of hunting guys using these. I guide also up here in Sask. I never see a client using these bullets. Crazy.
Well here's another pic of a recovered Swift Scirocco. This one was pulled from a bull elk shot at 12yds just behind front shoulder. It was lodged against opposite side hide. It weighed 190gr and expanded to .803in. I have shot 2 moose and 4 elk with this combo. 338-06AI shooting 210gr Swift...
Here are a few more pics of a 210gr Scirocco fired out of a 338-06AI at 2860fps. The bullet was recovered from a spike bull elk shot at approximately 175yds quartering towards me. The bullet weighed 193gr and expanded to .744in. It was dug out of the opposite side lodged against the hide.
I was skeptical at first to be sure. H4831sc has been so good for so long. Like you SJB358, I just thought I'd try it for grins. Had read lots about it. Now glad I did.
Here it is guys. 61.5gr RL26
3.295 COL
140gr Hornady BTSP
CCI 250 Primer
3115 fps
I started at 57gr of RL26. No stiff bolt and primers are fine with the aforementioned load.
No problem SJB. The only problem being is that they are hard to find here in Sask. Luckily I have enough to last me. I'm guessing Swift doesn't have the resources that some of the other top manufacturers have for advertising or distributing. Too bad. Such a great bullet.
SJB those are very nice results you have with the Scirocco. The Scirocco's are very underrated IMO. Hard to ask much more than that from a bullet. I use them in my 338-06AI. The bullets pictured here were from a bull elk shot at 70yds. All were found up against the opposite side hide. 2 weighed...
Hey preacher. I live and hunt the boreal forest fringe we have here in Sask. targeting these big mature deer we have here. As you know the body weights and horn size of these deer are crazy big. For 20+ years I've been using the combination of 56.0gr H4831sc and the Hornady 140gr BTSP. Never...
Thanks Rem Man. I figure I got lucky finding a load this good this quickly. But I'd rather be lucky than good any day. I just joined this site days ago and I'm glad I did. Seems there are a lot of knowledgeable and kind folk here.
When I began shooting the 270 in the late 90's who would've...
