    .257 Roberts hunters only

I’ve been shooting two different rifles in 25 cal in 1:7.5” twists and haven’t had any issues with jacket separation. A 25x47, and the 25/7 PRC. Both are using Berger bullets in the 133 to 135 range, that said, those jackets are just as thin as anything else you’d likely end up using. I have...

    70 grn accubond 223 loads

Bolt gun or AR? I've used up to 25.3 VarGet behind the Berger 73 BT in a Remington 700 Mil-Spec rifle that has a 24" bbl, but I ended up lowering it down to 24.2 last year as I decided to reduce the charge because the barrel sped up from when I first developed the load.

    25 06 load with 100 grain Partitions and H4831Sc

IMR4831 will typically give you great velocities. Test it with a mild-medium load while changing your seating depth. Once you found what seating depth it likes you can increase the charge weight to determine its potential.

QL request 30-06 w/ Nosler 168 gr ballistic tip

I've never used any of the 500 series VV powders in multiple 30'06's I've owned or have loaded for, but N150-N165 might get you the accuracy you're looking for. If you can find RL19, RL22, RL23 they've always given me good speed and accuracy. Anything in the 4350 burn rate up to N160 should...

And I don't even have the rifle yet!

What were your findings? For me personally, I don’t like tight necks, or worse neck turning. Bartlein’s #3 or 3b is a great hunting contour barrel. There #3 is actually bigger than any other 3’s out there, actually Benchmark’s #4 is still smaller in every dimension. Neither is light, but a...

And I don't even have the rifle yet!

So Dan, what’s happening with the rifle itself? Great cartridge, kind of in a class of its own for speed and accuracy IMO. One of the medium actions would be a fine choice. Are you having it built, or buying the rifle?

    QL Data on 7mag 150g

I honestly have never seen brass turn purple/blue unless I was annealing it during the process. That seems weird? I have shot brass that the neck tension was under .01 and never seen coloration changes on them. So unless someone else is aware of this issue that seems odd. I’d think it’s...

    QL Data on 7mag 150g

I’d try to find the most accurate load possible that is repeatable vs velocity! Learning to shoot well centers around that factor. Even if it means slower speeds, consistency will prevail in you seeing that you got the wind wrong, and/or your fundamentals aren’t up to par. Even a 7mm-08...

I can’t tell from your picture of your brass, but was that to show unburnt powder around the necks of your brass, and why you said Vihtavuori burns cleaner?

Norma vs Woodleigh vs Nosler in my 30’06 Springfield.

I ended up testing the two sample packs in 165 Power Hammer and 166 Hammer Hunter’s after I thoroughly cleaned the barrel. I looked back to see what charge weights I was using with the 165 partition bullet, and settled on starting at 58 grains .025” off the lands with both bullets for the Top...

    Advice for someone starting out

Well then you’d be better served to attend a NRL Hunter match vs International Bench Rest (IBS) type match if you’re serious about becoming a better hunter!! NRL Hunter only has realistic hunting scenarios, shooting from field positions across the US in every imaginable type of train. From...

    Advice for someone starting out

So if I’ve interpreted what you’re wanting to accomplish in order to achieve precision long range shooting with an acceptable, meaning no less than 50% hits in field positions, on the clock……. But with the end result to most likely (if you have the proper equipment and skills) to approach 80%...

    Talk to me about VihtaVuori

Ben, give me a call. I’ve used them for 25 years now and when they work I will use them unless someone else works better.

Norma vs Woodleigh vs Nosler in my 30’06 Springfield.

I cleaned the crown of fouling and used Teflon tape on the threads, and the jam nut as well to see if it’ll help keeping it tight on the barrel. I started to wonder what if it’s right before it goes loose that I see the smallest groups produced!?! So I reshot the previous loads today to see...

Norma vs Woodleigh vs Nosler in my 30’06 Springfield.

I may try that!?! I thought I’d see if Teflon tape would cure it from working loose between the jam nut and the break itself. Years ago I tried an Area 419 MB that did this too when I was competing in PRS and I sold it off for an American Precision Arms Gen II and never had an issue with that...
