    A weekend well spent

On Thursday morning I pillar bedded the new Boyd’s stock for my daughter’s Africa rifle then on Friday I bedded the action and free floated the barrel. I’ve done a few now so it came out well. On Saturday I took my 28Nosler and the Kimber 325WSM along with the 270WSM wearing new furniture the...

Double check my logic on the gun/scope/bullet choices for my kids and I for our trip to Namibia for Plains game.

My wish list is Sable, Waterbuck, Impala, maybe Eland and a damn Warthog that evaded me last time. My son would like to take a Gemsbok, Hartebeest and a few other smaller animals. My daughter is after a zebra but can't decide between a Burchell's or a mountain. She is also hoping for an...

Double check my logic on the gun/scope/bullet choices for my kids and I for our trip to Namibia for Plains game.

After a few starts, stops and tough conversations we're getting somewhere in the process. I'm very comfortable dialing and using ranging reticles to shoot as far as I need to and have lots of practice. So I'm good with just about any combo. My kids aren't. I'm setting them up with simple...

    Trying something new!

Had a great trip! The rifle and load worked perfectly and the outfitter was excellent. I was a bit early for the full rut but they started running does the last day I hunted. Didn’t get a lot of pictures of the buck because I shot him at last light and we had coyotes and a grizzly in the near...

    Back to Africa

Bergzicht. They’re about an hour out of Windhoek. Went there in 2010; had an amazing trip and and they’ve continued to grow and expand since then. They even have a rhino conservancy. Photo ops should be great.

    Trying something new!

Shot the above buck through my spotting scope this morning. He got roughed up by another buck. I want to put the other buck in my rifle scope. There are some big 10 pointers around here.

    Quite a morning.

I’m already up here. Every Canadian within earshot was really happy about the election results. They’d like to do the same to Trudeau.

    Trying something new!

Hi Gerry, It’s running a 24” barrel but it’s got a long throat so I can seat those long bullets to magazine length and still have the long jump those ABLRs like. It’s a McGowan barrel and I’m really happy with it so far.

    Back to Africa

Well I’m finally going back! In May I’m taking my two kids to Namibia. I went back when they were in grade school and they loved the picts and stories I brought back so I promised them that I’d take them if they graduated from college. Well, they have and I am. I’ve given them a trophy fee...

    Trying something new!

As I write this I’m camped at the Marriott hotel in Grande Prairie Alberta. Tomorrow the outfitter is picking me up to check site in and take me to his cabin an hour away. I’m 3 flights and 1200 miles from home and Monday I start hunting whitetails for the first time! I’m a west coast hunter so...

Gentlemen; I'd like to introduce Alice - She's naked

Finally brought him home from the mammal mortician. Looks great in the Livingroom! 8' ceilings can be tough with a big elk but the taxidermist did great. I did the pedestal. It's a whiskey barrel that I got from Bull Run Distillery then burned the grain and stained it. My ex-wife saw it and...
