I had one years ago, but I could not get the relief from it I had hoped for. I got to where it would spasm when I was "inverted" and couldn't hardly pull myself upright to get off of it! ha It was a hoot. I have a stretching time and 2 visits a week with the PT, it really helps.
I did go ahead yesterday and ordered a Lead Sled ( I hated to do it too!) I can do alot with about any rifle off it, but I'm just being safe. Once I get my load set for the 150 TTSX in my heirloom JC Higgins '06 (which I'm having braked and a nice soft recoil pad put on) I'll shoot it in for...
Update: Cow hunt last Dec was postponed for my wife’s surgery, a back fusion. Meantime I have been wheeling dealing. The 338 Classic got sold to buy a Fierce 7 RM, now it’s gone for a mod 700 ADL SS baby. Got it all tricked out, then a month ago said “ shoulder”
Got stiff and sore! I agreed to...
My Son in Law used the 180 AB on a nice Muley buck with my 22" 338 Federal. Around 2700fps Nice
I used the same bullet in a 338 RUM going 3500fps on a big Aoudad with the same nice results. (You dont "want" to eat any part of an Aoudad, phew!)
Its a good one for any 338 looks like to "me", but...
I have played with Barnes since 1989, and for sure, clean between then foul "every time you change powders", Foul with the powder you are testing! :) BTW, last year, I played with a Fierce 7 mag and settled on 72+ Grand, ADG brass and 175 Partiton for 3050fps, sub MOA! Thats "Mashburn"...
I load a set of for workup and sometimes hit pressure several charges from Max. I take them home and I use Side-Cutters to pinch/pull bullets and if I'm careful it hurts nothing. If I have powder sticking inside that I can't tap loose, I have sacrificed the primer via resizing cases, then wash...
Agreed, Imr 4350 and you can't go wrong. The recoil in a BAR is not bad at all, even w/o the Decelerator/Porting! That gas piston is your friend! I loaded the Speer 200 for a friends 338WM bolt gun ( an evil, wickedly recoiling 80's Moodel 70, Boo, Hiss) and he shot a small Texas deer with it...
When I'm on a "money hunt", I want a stout caliber with monos. I shot 35 Whelen AI with 250x my first South African trip, 200X my third. I took a 340 Wby 2nd trip, but on all three trips I've shot game ( mid 90's to 2002 they were cheaper!) with my friend's 300WM/180 Barnes, 338WM/200 Barnes...
Well, I found out thatthe Sako action after its heat reated in Factory, its almost impossble to Skeletonize, /cant get it set up to Mill right either. However, I could always have to barrel reduced din diameter, but I'm not messing with it. I also can put a 1x4 or straight 6x on it and save a...
