That helps a lot. I'll creep up to 56.0 and see if the groups shrink. I could see the groups get smaller as I went up in charge weight. I wondered if there was a node just a little higher.
I stopped at 55.5 and the primers were getting pretty flat. 60.4gr is yeesh. Did you ever establish the most accurate charge for your gun? looking for the velocity based on charge that others have found was happy land.
Well, I ran a quick run up the powder range to 55.5gr, max charge in the Hornady book, of 8208 XBR and the 225 SGK and got 2612 fps. All the rounds from 54.0 to 55.5 in half grain steps index up in a 2-2.5” bullseye. So I’ll play with the top end of this powder and see where the node is. I have...
So I bought a used Rem 700 in .35 Whelen. It had been shot and had some minor work on it and I think the bottom metal wasn't stock. I don't really care about that as I was setting this up to shoot and learn with. I reinforced the comb, installed Pillars, floated the barrel, and fully bedded...
I just shot this load through my 6.5 CM Cross yesterday.
129gr ABLR
42.3gr H4350
2.815" OAL
CCI 200
Hornady Brass
I tried 42.5, but the group started to split into two different groups. Clear indication it was above the accuracy node.
Ya. She's one of my shooting students and had never taken a shot at an animal over 30 yds when I started teaching her. She now is shooting 7 PRC with 175gr out to 660 yds with ease. She proned out, dialed her drop based off her guides range call, checked her level and absolutely dropped the...
Update to the 175 ABLR 67.2gr H1000round. This is a 0.85" group, best of the sequence tested, shot from a Savage 110 Ultralight rifle. It looks like this might be one of those happy places that cartridges just ends up at regularly regardless of the rifle.
To determine if this is a suppressor issue, you need to shoot the gun with out the suppressor and see if it still does it or not. There is a lot of SD is some of the 300 Blackout powders. Heavy bullets and light powder charges. It can be erratic with some powders.
I skimmed a few posts so I may have missed it, but at this point of frustration, I check the gun. Barrel free floated, all scope mounting hardware, to include bases are torqued (I blue locktite too), action screws are torqued (I also blue locktite them). If you have a bore scope, I check for a...
Yep, the 150 ELD-x is slower than it could be. I could probably get a load in the 3200s if I play around more. This load is for antelope out to 600 yds off of a standing or kneeling bi/tripod. I have a hunting friend thats got a guided trip coming up in WY and she doesn't reload. This bullet...
