Thanks again for your thoughts fellas!
Sometimes I get the bug to go light and fast instead of the 175 ABLR....for example a 143gr Barnes LRX at around 3,250fos instead of the 175 ABLR at 2,815.
That little mono bullet will fully penetrate just about anything and have flatter trajectory too...
Hello my friend, just keep in mind that if you as you said” drop down to 160 ABLR” you are going to a different bullet since the 160 is a regular Accubond.
The LRs are 168 and 175. I use the 175 and they are awesome Bullets.
Thanks for the comments fellas! Yea, I;m going to keep my load as is and just shoot it, with good barrel life, ES, etc in mind. True, what difference is another 100+- FPS going to matter on game?
That heavy ABLR is a serious bullet!
Thanks Felllas! I forgot that I have another one. This one from an Impala shot at only 50 yards, hit in the hip and recovered in chest cavity. The hip looked like a hand grenede went off on it. It was 85gr.
What do you guys think of my 2,815 MV? Like I said it's accurate with 5fps high/low...
Hello Fellas,
Just thought that I would share a pic with you of a 175gr ABLR from my 7mmRemMag MV 2815FPS, that I recovered from a big stallion Zebra that I shot at 180+-yards. The animal was full broadside and the bullet struck him first in the upper leg bone, penetrated both lungs, and the...
SJB, are you referring to the mark below-between the 7 and the H?
Do you think that it's a pressure mark or just scuffing on the case from something else?
Thanks Jim!
I am not a good enough shot anyway to worry about the ambient temp changing my POI at 1,000 yards but I am worried about the load becoming dangerous in 95F in the sun, which I loaded in my 70F house.
My load that I wind up going with won't be on the verge of over-pressure but it...
So glad to read that;(
I am also shooting 175's but in a 7MM Rem Mag. I am probably going to end up within .2gr of 78.0gr. I loaded all the way up to 79.0 and just got this bit of a crater so I figured that I would back off a bit even thought the cratering was my only sign.
So I am finally nailing down a load for my 7mm Rem Mag with RL33 and I am reading the above, from Alliant no less, that RL33 IS temp sensitive UGH! Before I started loading with RL33, I did a google search and I didn't really see much about RL33 being temp sensitive.
How much should I worry...
