Old thread but always like to add to it. My 350 RM has a long throat, I built it on a pre-64 model 70. My favorite load has been 61 grains of RL 15 and the 225 accubond at 2800 fps. My barrel is 24 inches
A little bit about the rifle first I guess. It is a Kevin Weaver custom on a pre-64 Model 70 action in a mcmillan D'Arcy Echols stock, Lilia 1-12 stainless barrel it is a 350 Rem. Mag. Loaded long, cartridge OAL is just short of 3.200 with the nosler 225 Accubond. I got the rifle from Kevin...
This is a picture of one that went through the front shoulder of a 5 point bull elk and lodged just under the hide on the other side. Retained weight was 155 grains. Muzzle velocity was 2750 and the shot was 170 yards.
After trying them in three different rifles I finally found one that actually likes them and shoots them into tiny little groups, my last 200 yard three shot group was 3/4 of an inch. Anyway it is a 6.5-06 Ackely shooting them at 3200 fps. Looking at the way they blow-up water jugs at 300 and...
I figure with 2016 being just around the corner it might be a good time to bring this thread back to life. My list is a 35 caliber 250 accubond. And make enough bullets so that we can buy them when we need them.
I figure I will use it for open country mule deer and elk this year I will give some more updates in a few months I hope.
I guess a little real world result are more interesting then milk jugs.
Shot this at 50 yards out of my 358 STA went through four milk jugs and lodged in the 5th. Retained weight was 148 grains. My muzzle velocity is 3150 so I figured it hit going over 3000 fps. Not bad performance.
