I almost said something about Sky Screens and 90 Gr .257 HP's not liking each other much, and then there was the 400gr .416 and a MagnetoSpeed "bayonet" but didn't,,,,,,

I also have the Athlon Rangecraft.
It’s my first and only chronograph, and I like it very much. I’ve never used any other so I can’t comment on what is best, but with Guy’s experience I’ll go with his.
It was around the $400ish range if I remember correctly and I paid for it in installments. I can’t imagine it being much more than that, even in Canada.

In Canada the Athlon Rangecraft is $100 less than the Garmin which is usually $729.00. Understandable when you consider the Canadian dollar is sinking fast in value, less than $.70 American.

Ask my first chrony! It was not even me but met its demise via a 357 Mag. LOL

I bought a Caldwell a few years ago to record data. It worked ok. Problem is setting it up. At the public range I hate messing with it. I found myself leaving it at home most of the time.

I was looking at the Garmin last week. I noticed the Athlon for less. After reeding up on it and talking to the person at the counter I bought the Athlon. Only used it once but love it. I have two friends who like the Garmin. They are so easy to use.

I still keep a notebook and pen to record stuff.

I had the same issue setting up my Ohler 35 at the gun club. Several times I was asked by a fellow member if they could shoot a few rounds through it. The answer was always no. One guy was persistent and I told him that if he hit a sky screen he just bought it.
Since then, we now have our own range and the Garmin is used every time we shoot, and with no concerns of being hit by friendly fire.
