What recoil pad?

I've got a Remington 7600 in 35 Whelen's that I would enjoy shooting more, especially off the bench, if I had a good recoil pad. I'm not used to the level of recoil that it deals me and figured a good recoil pad would help a lot. The trouble was first finding a gunsmith locally. That problem is now taken care of so I have one more issue to deal with. What grind to fit pad should I use? The obvious ones to me were the Pachmayr Decelerator and the Limbsaver pads.
What other pads are out there that you know work well?
(I'm having the stock shortened by the thickness of the pad and then the pad installed.)

I have used both on rifles over the years, and like them both, but have found that the LimbSaver pad produces less felt recoil on the harder recoiling rifles.
Example. my old LH Rem 700 BDL in 338 Win Mag would leave me sore and bruised after 20 rounds of Federal Premium 210 gr Partition ammo off the bench with the original hard, black recoil pad. With the LimbSaver pad, I could go 60 rounds off the bench with the ame ammo, and be neither bruised or sore afterwards...and my accuracy improved because of it. My 376 Steyr, 416 Taylor and 9.3x62 also now wear LimbSaver pads.

Have both. Replaced the Limb Saver that deteriorated with another Limb Saver on my Rem 700 CDL 35 Whelen and am well pleased with it. Had a Pachmyer put on my 30-06 and it works well also. Both good.

Yes, LimbSaver had an issue in the early years where the rubber broke down on the pads, including those installed on firearms by Remington, but they did warranty them with the improved product, and hasn't been an issue since.
Luckily, I only had one pad that broke down and had to be replaced.
