    22-250 varmint load?

I prefer the Nosler 55gr. Bal. Tip pushed along by IMR4064 35.0grs. It give me a velocity of 3500fps. which is fast enough for what I shoot. I seat it out pretty far at 2.56", but it's quite accurate. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal

    Best Varmit rifle/Caliber out there

I agree about the .222Rem. It'll go down as a classic. I have other varmint rifles that I take more often to the woodchuck fields, but for the pure joy of shooting and accuracy it's hard to top the old triple deuce. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal

    Match Brass

At International Benchrest Shooter competitions (IBS) Lapua seems to be the overwhelming choice. I use their cases in several calibers. Their Scenar bullets are also top notch. The beauty of Lapua cases is the uniformity in dimension and weight. This is a great example of getting something...

What rifles seem to be increasing in popularity?

It seems the most popular cartridges in the US at the moment are the 6.5x55 and the .204Ruger. My major concern is the manufacturers. CZ's popularity is really on the upswing, ditto for Tikka while many of our US manufacturers are slipping in the quality of their firearms. The quest for the...

    Hot deal on excellent powder!

I've been experimenting a good bit with VihtaVoyuri 550 and 560 (with the heavier bullets) in my Remingtn Classic in 6.5x55 and have been pleasantly surprised. It's used commonly in Scandanavia for match shooting, and now I can see why. It works great with Lapua bullets. This is mainly for...

125 gr Ballistic Tip performance .308 diameter

I can't speak of bullet performance since I've only used the bullet at the range, but the Nosler 125gr. Bal. Tip is the most accurate bullet in my .308Win. In fact it's one of the few bullets that displays really good accuracy in my light Browning Micro-medallion, a 6.0lb rifle with a short...

    Mag. Primers in the .25-06?

I'm in the midst of load development for a new Remington 700BDL in .25-06 and am wondering if the Federal or Remington Mag. Primers are a good choice so long as I drop back a bit on the loads? I'm trying all bullet weights from 75 to 120grs. My shooting is at the range and quite truthfully...

    7mm Rem Mag Favorite Powder

The 7mm Rem.Mag. is one of those calibers that isn't too finicky. Most slow powders work well in it. Primarily I use IMR4831 for good accuracy. Lately I've been experimenting with VV560 and thus far am quite happy with it. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal

What Calibers Are You Loading For?

I load mostly for varmint i .17Rem., .222Rem. (2 rifles), .222Rem.Mag., .22-250Rem., .243Win. and 6mm Rem. I also load for deer and moose in the following calibers: 6.5x55, 7mm Rem. Mag., .303SMLE, .308Win. and 8x57Mauser. Most of my shooting is however for varmint, primarily woodchuck. Best...

    Working a load, How to?

I do this mainly for 6.5mm and smaller. Pick the most accurate load given in the Noisler or Sierra manual. Load in groups of 5 and vary each group by .5grs. (unless it's a maximum load). Neck size about a third of the way down the neck and go at it. It almost always works for me. Most of my...

22-250 & neck resizing or full length sizing????

My most accurate rifle is a .22-250 on a Savage 110 action with a 24" Hart SS Varmint barrel. It shoots in the .2"s with the Nosler 50 and 55gr. Bal.Tips. With the 50gr. I use IMR4064 36.0gr. which gives me 3700fps. For the 55gr. I use IMR4064 34.1gr. for a MV of 3500fps. I use the Redding...

REMINGTON 17 CAL CENTERFIRE MODEL 700

I have a Remington 700BDL in .17 Remington. I like the rifle, but it's a finicky little beast. I've been knoiwn to shoot .3" groups (5 at 100yds) only to follow that with a 1.2" group. It definitely will shoot, whenever in heck it wants to. It's pretty bad on copper fouling also. It's great...

    Best Varmit rifle/Caliber out there

I have two favorites that I use for woodchuck and would hate to have to pick between them, a .22-250 and .222Rem. Mag. Both sport Hart SS varmint barrels and shoot in the .2s" and .3s". Mainly I shoot Nosler 50 and 55gr. Bal. Tips. Both [erform very well. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal

What rifles seem to be increasing in popularity?

For all around usage the 6.5x55 seems to have seen a noticeable increase in popularity lately. One of the die manufacturing companies used to list what dies they were selling the most of which offers a good idea, but I haven't seen it in several years. The old 6.5x55 has been around for over...

    7mm RM loads

I get my best results in my Remington BDL in 7mm Rem. Mag. with IMR4831 64.0grs. pushing a Speer 160gr. PSP along at 2950fps. This is pretty much maximum in my rifle. It groups .631" (5 at 100yds.)most often which isn't bad for a sporter weight rifle. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal

.243 win data for IMR 4350 with 100 grn sp ?

I have a Savage 110 in .243Win., and it does fairly well with a Sierra 100gr. SBT pushed along by IMR4350 39.1grs. for a velocity of 2800fps. It groups at .7" (5 at 100yds.) which isn't too bad for a sporter barrel. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal

    Problem with seating depths

How are you measuring? By any chance are you using a Stony Point OAL guage? The reason I ask is that there's a slight learning curve involved in this. When I first started using one my measurements showed a lot of variability. Now they usually duplicate the length from one measurement to...

    Bullet Seating Lube

Do you feel you need to lube the neck in order to seat? I'm a little surprised. Generally I'll bevel the inside of the case neck and that's enough to get the bullet started. Possibly your brass is a bit thick, but I think the expander ball on the sizer would tell you that. Best wishes. Cal...
