Why not just mail order everything except powder and primers? I been to a gander in WI and they are total rip off! I can't believe people pay their prices! I had a friend go through their when he went back to visit family a 50 count bag of winchester 25/06 brass 40.00 bucks I get the same local...
No I haven't given them much thought? I guess I'm looking for a bullet with a good BC the PT has .315 and for 5 more grains and going to a hunting jacket in the 90 balt tip I can increase BC to .365 and have better down range performance.
I will try those 90 BT"s more on coyotes they seem to do...
Yeh but I thought those VLD"s where the longest bullets made! It seems that way becuase they are rather long but then many seat them out far! Others tell me you don't need to, to get good groups! I wanted to make sure when I give them a try on coyotes they still feed in my rem blind magazine...
I contacted Berger they sent me the info via email for anyone that wants to know it is 1.149" OAL that is smaller than the new 90 grain E tip! I wouldn't have thought that!
Took my 25-06 out this morning and found a 4x4 WT buck beeded with a doe in a grass patch in the middle of an open field, crawled my way up to 362 yards doe started looking my way the buck bedded down , I let him have it in the neck he didn't even flinch, I saw horns and then I didn't he laid...
If you keep your shot under 300 yards I think the 90 or 95 grain bal tip will do the job quite well on Mule deer! Or how about the new E tip in a 95 offering?
I have shot the 90's and so does a friend his wife killed an antleope a few weeks back at 310 yards ranged, it dropped it in it's tracks...
you won't have to worry about an accu bond not killing
But a bal tip that sounds about what one can expect for weight retension. I used to use them in my 25-06 but switched to the accu bond a great bullet for deer, antelope and bigger critters!
Colin what rate of twist do you have in your gun? Also I have used the 90 bal tip with H-4831sc and had great results at 43.5 grains. Shoots a dandy group!
If your rate of twist is more than 1-10 it maybe tough getting a tiny group. My remington with 1-9 likes the 80's and above !
I'm...
Well then I guess I stay with what I have. As I do use my headspace gauge and get it set with the redding FL die now and get good groups for hunting and killin critters LOL.
It would be fun to play with new things but the wife is a tough sell when it comes to new toys LOL. She doesn't know why...
Ok called and talked with Bob from Forster he said the instructions are a good starting point but nothing magical over a FL die and bumping the shoulder, so I still need to use my stoney point head space gauge, but it only moves the shoulder and sizes the neck not rest of the case body helping...
This die is setup up to sixe the neck and bump the shoulder if you don't want to size the neck it tells you to take out the bushing and then it will bump the shoulder on it's own. But according to the instructions it doesn't state to use my head space gauge it is set in the die?
Other wise a...
Kraky I looked at their detailed online instructions all it states is set it against the shell holder no futher adjustment needed, just wondering how that works for all guns? I will give them a call thanks.
I saw where Forster has come out with a neck die that has bushing for more consistant bullet hold in the case, nit much new there but this die also bumps back the shoulder at the same time ! Giving you according to them a more alinged fit into the chamber.
The directions state you just measure...
I was wondering if you had anymore news on that 80 grain with a thicker jacket? These post get moved around alot I and others still have major interest in this bullet taking a new form! Thanks CT
awsome to hear on the 25-06 brass! I bought 2 bags of Winchester but left them unopened will take them back and trade for Nosler when it hits the shelves. Any idea a time frame for that Nosler 25-06 brass to hit the market? 1st or 2nd quarter?
