I really lke the Partitions in 7mm-08, but I've got a good many ABs that I'm going to try. The "factory" loads I was referring to was Federal Premium. After I run out of ABs I'll more than likely pick up some Partitions for it, but I do like those Accubonds.
Thanks for the input, keep it coming.
thanks, russ808. I forgot to mention that I'll be going with the 140gr AB. That sounds great on the IMR4350, I was planning on using that and Varget to start with.
I've started on a Model 7 last week with bedding and a Game Reaper scope mount today so I would like to know what loads you guys have. This little rifle shoots factory PTs around 3/4", but I'm not paying $44 a box when i can do it myself and have alot more fun.
As usual, I'm in 100% agreement with DrMike. I'll almost never go for a neck shot anymore due to many photos I've seen regarding esophagus damage. The pic from a trail camera of a live deer with a hole in its throat made the decision for me.
I'm thinking of buying a set of Redding dies, the Type S Bushing Neck sizer 3-Die set to be exact. I'll be loading for .308 Win and was wondering which bushing size that I would need because there's alot of sizes offered. Should I get several different sizes for different neck tensions, or is...
I, personally, want 3/4" or less, but I'm too freaking picky! I have never "built" a rifle, but have wanted to for a looong time, just never had the funds or know a good 'smith close to me I'd trust to do it. I've got several stock rifles that shoot sub .75 moa, if it doesn't, it hits the...
First of all, great read! Second, I'm not in denial, I know my problem is real and feel no need to suppress it ( other than lack of $$$$ to further support it) as my safe will hold a few more. Really good post, 6mm Remington.
Well, this morning I went out to shoot some and installed a new battery and made a sun shade for the sides. Bingo. Velocities were back to previous load, 3220 fps. The best I can tell, in the mornings, the sun cast shadows and bright spots giving false readings, or it could have been the...
Yes sir, my manual says that I can take the screens off in certain lighting situations but its never ( I think ) been a problem before. Maybe I'll know more in the morning.
I want to thank you again for you're input on my .338 and all my other projects.
Mike,
I keep my powder in a cabinet in the house, so it will be at a regulated temp, and it doesn't look or smell any different. I really think it's my chrony acting up. I've read the manual and I'm going to shoot the same load in the morning with one round painted black with a sharpie to see...
Keep your head up, Steve. You can play with seating depth, and drop back on the charge some and see if it gets better. You're getting about 150fps more out of the same load as mine, so your not in bad shape at all. I do beleive that ANY animal hit with the 225gr AB is going to have a very bad...
no, I don't turn necks. I just found one round left from the work-up last year. Its 64gr but I'm gonna check it in the morning also.
what style neck turner do you use, hardpan?
Its the exact same everything-brass, powder lot, seating depth, all of it. weather is the only variable, which is within 10 degrees of last time. I'm going to try some different things with it to see if I can find anything .
I've got a Competition Electronics Pro Chrono Digital. and its starting to give me some velocities that are starting to irritate me. At the end of last year, the load I had worked up for my Sendero was averaging 3207fps with 140gr AB, 64.5gr IMR4350, WLRM primers<, and Fed.brass. Sounds good, so...
That, my friend, is truly OUTSTANDING!!!!
And I thought my 100yrd groups were looking better. Oh, well, I guess its back to the bench for me!
just out of curiosity, what does your 100 yard groups look like? or is it one of those bullet stabilizes past 100 things?
Great shootin', keep the...
well, after looking over every possible scenario, I started messing with the stock and didn't like some of the contact points around the action. After cleaning some paint from around certain areas when I put the stock back on, I had some serious pressure on the fore-end. To make a long story...
what I'm trying now is a 1/2"x1/2" piece of double sided foam tape, with the backing still on, between the stock and barrel at the tip. I'll shoot it in the morning and see if thats right or needs more or less. Then I can epoxy a bed close to the tip for the pressure point.
Thanks for...
I'm looking for something to replace my Conetrol mounts on my Sako AV, mine worked loose last week and scope slid about 1/8" in the rings. Probably my fault for not checking them more often, though.
