Well - it hasn't been done by everyone.
I still use a 30-06. 116 years old. With modern powders and bullets, it is still a great cartridge.
Are there better/more efficient?
Probably.
So what?
I use the Creedmoor. But only because it is available in left hand Savage.
With the old Swede I would...
Just read that Trump wants to do it again.
I can understand you leaning to the Republicans.
But do you think he is the right one?
What other options are there (read about the guy from Florida...).
Just relying on international press it might seem he (Trump) didn't help much at the mid-terms...
A friend of mine uses Peltor in ear hearing protection and is quite happy, they seem similar to the ones in the post.
I read that the jaw bone transmits some sounds, too - so Micky mouse still protects better.
But that wasn't the question.
My 30-06 surplus is still rather mild.
The 308 gets trashed. Very hard bolt lift In a Remi 700, tore off the extractor from the Bergara.
No way they will be shot again.
But with my haldloads?! No idea what happened
Well.
I loaded them mid range.
For the last 5 1/2 years, I don't know how they were stored.
Guess in a cellar.
I hope to get some to learn from it, but don't have any now.
I used data from the powder company, QL and whatever data I could get.
So after 15 years of reloading, I am safe as can be...
No idea if she ever cleaned the rifle in the past 5 1/2 years since I moved out.
Probably not.
But I am 100% sure the loads were nowhere near max. They were for shooting cinimar and running boar, which doesn't require peak loads or accuracy.
Still makes you wonder if something like that happens
My Ex-wife told me yesterday that she tore off her extractor with ammo I loaded years ago (we were still together back then, so no intension! Wouldn't do that at all, because I think even split up, the boys need both parents...).
The loads were not on the upper end and I have no idea what...
Actually the idea is not that new.
We have that design in Europe for 20 years now.
And I use a similar design for more than ten years and didn't look back.
Lead free and results more like lead.
Distance might be a bit limited depending on nose design, but for me they are great.
I found one...
I just checked my go-to shop in Germany and almost fell over backwards when I saw the current AB price.
I use lead free for about 10 years now and used the AB before.
Never looked back and with AB being more expensive than e.g. Barnes never will.
My .308 (30-06) bullet is way cheaper and never...
Those rails at the bottom are very common over here in Europe.
Can be a bit of a pain to find bases sometimes, since they are specific for manufacturers and you can't swap that easily between guns.
But Zeiss, Swaro, Meopta, ... all have them.

Badgers, Foxes and a racoon (someone had the bright idea to set them free in Germany)
Not that much of a story.
We have a few driven hunts for boar here and the dogs bound a boar. I was one of the drivers that day.
Shooting near the dogs is a no-go, so I took the knife.
Actually it is an old Bajonett that I sharpened.
Was over very quickly with lots of blood.
Wrote it in the elk thread:
As a man with not one, but two rifles (30-06 and 6,5 Creedmoor):

Hi Guy,
I just watched your video and since I only have a 30-06 and a 6,5 Creedmoor currently, I was very interested.
What you came up with is basically what I decided for myself. With our distances shorter than yours, I am quite sure the 6,5 does the job.
Still I use the 30-06 for driven hunts...
